Thai — Restaurant in Scotland

Can’t say we’ve been to many restaurants where staff eat a meal at the counter in full view of the paying customers who are waiting for their food.

This was after we had some initial “how can we not help you today” service, and a group was turned away at 5pm because they were “busy” despite 8 of the 10 or so tables in the restaurant being empty. Oh, our mistake, 1 of the tables is now occupied by a different staff member eating their enormous meal loudly whilst watching videos on their phone (at least they’re eating at a table, not the counter).

Whilst waiting for our food and then whilst eating, we listening to the Caucasian staff complain about other staff members and sound quite racist against the Thai staff working there, in between shoving mouthfuls of food into their mouths and slurping loudly on soft drinks.

Sadly owner was away so we couldn’t give them feedback, however the staff member we spoke took feedback well and hopefully grows from it.

That being said, food was tasty and staff members (when not openly finishing their mouthful and picking food out of their teeth in front of us) were averagely attentive.

Maybe opt for takeaway if you’re tempted...

My husband and I thought we would have a pleasant anniversary lunch here when on holiday in Harris. How disappointing, the starter was chicken satay which was over cooked chewy and had been re heated in a microwave. The worst I have ever tasted in a Thai restaurant, the side salad was also inedible, dried up carrot and cabbage ( I think ?) did not taste it as it looked so awful. Sent back most of the starter. The man who served us didn’t even ask how it was. Maybe he knew. When my main course arrived the rice had been overdone in a microwave. It was chewy and stuck together. I took it up to the counter and told the waiter it was awful. He apologized and got me a fresh one. This was better but the curry I had with it was not better. It tasted bland. The chicken was chewy and there were no vegetables at all. Extremely poor. I left most of the food and would not have paid. My husband paid and we left. Would not recommend this restaurant. The food was excellent however the management and the staff were appalling in dealing with a young man who was either very drunk or high on drugs. His behaviour became more outrageous as the evening progressed and ended up with him throwing glasses which were then left on the floor to the entrance of the toilets. The staff said and did nothing as though this was completely acceptable. I asked a member of staff why they had not said anything, the reply was he was a friend of the owners family. Questioned about the glass on the floor the reply was have you been hurt. I requested to speak to the manager and was informed she was busy. I stated that we were not leaving until we had spoken to them. After 10 minutes she came to our table, shrugged her shoulders and said he didn’t come in very often!!! It was as if it was all perfectly acceptable. I regret not...
