The walk and view around the lake is something special - an open view on one side shows the rocky formation, I think designed to celebrate the Welsh tradition and pride in having Alfred the Great, a Welshman, as the first English king - followed in succession by Arthur and the Knights of the Round table and the fascinating fables attached. Around the other side of the lake is an avenue walk - with lovely woods to the rear, ideal for dog walkers in particular. The Millennium path running (and biking) inbetween, leads uphill and then down to Llanelli beach or to travel west over the Festival fields and landscaped hills, affectionately named the Tele Tubbies - and where the Eisteddfod was held in 2000. Read moreFantastic place to bird watch, or just feed the swans. Several landmarks and sculptures make for an interesting walk. Scattered picnic benches are very convenient. Dogs allowed. Path very well paved, perfect for wheel chair users. Burger van and sometimes an ice cream truck can be found in the car park. Generally quiet. No signs of drug users, barely any litter. Lack of public bathrooms may be inconvenient, as nearest loo is 10-15 minutes walk away in town. Small woods, small hills and, of course, the small lake make this the perfect place to experience nature without any stress. Wildlife preserve in Pembrey and the Wetlands Centre contribute to a very diverse eco system - many rare birds, dragonflies and butterflies. At night there are frogs, toads and bats. Plenty of room to have a good walk, jog, ride your bike, or just sit and relax, appears to be used quite a lot on weekends and holidays, especially with the opening of lockdown rules, but a car is essential to get there or bike, owing to being a little out of the way, the parking space is not huge and can be a problem...
