It began with such a palace just to get in... having left my BA paper ticket on the plane (but not my phone) I was advised I needed to go to the BA ticket desk in departures to get a copy if my boarding ticket, which is impossible as it's an arrivals lounge meaning the flight had already flown. I queried if this was really necessary as I had all my flight / ticket information on my phone. It was explained it was necessary to scan the boarding card. I suggested they phone BA colleagues for verification but they insisted I needed to go to Zone D downstairs. Zone D was eventually found in the adjacent building who were unable to print a copy of a boarding card for a historic flight so the member of BA spoke to her American Airlines colleague who simply phoned the desk in the Arrivals Lounge to verify my visitation rights. I queried why I had been made to make an unnecessary trip when it could all be verified over the phone as I had originally suggested from the arrivals lounge. Neither member of American Airlines were able to adequately explain the incompetence or it seems capable of issuing an apology! Not the first class service one expects - more akin to 'computer says no' attitude - very disappointing flowing a 10 hr flight!

The positives were the food and the shower facilities in what is otherwise a very basic cramped lounge, which strictly adheres to a no...

This terminal is easy to navigate if you follow and read the signs, also look where you are going, there are a lot of people at the same time, not always looking where they are going, and they will run you over with their suitcases. Pack some food for while you're in the airport before security because it's very expensive compared to regular shops and there is no fast food chain like burger king or McDonald's. More fancy style food bars and restaurants and use the information boards, the currency exchange staff are going to know just as much as you will when you ask them what gate your flights on, only the information board will be able to tell you. Bring as little luggage as you can to minimise your journey time and make moving through crowds more convenient, Travelex in the currency exchange stores are helpful with money and sim cards they will give you the deal that will give you the most of the money you are spending, and the cash machine asks you if you want a receipt, if you're not going to take it dont print it! Nobody else needs to see what transactions...

Regardless of your lounge, American Airlines is the worst US airline that served me with a horrendous experience back in January. The airline abandoned passengers in the middle of the night at the Denver airport because they couldn't follow their schedule. They never provided accomodation or reimbursement for it. They lost my checked luggage in the process of it, which they later flew around the US for nearly a week. When they sent it home to me nearly a week later, the luggage looked like it was battered with hanmer from each side. The Samsonite suitcase had cracks in its shell on each side, one of the wheels was nearly ripped off and the handle was missing. They responded to my complaint with a generic copy paste template which they send to thousands of customers. Literally thank you for sharing your thoughts, it's important for us since we strive to improve customer experience while never addressing any of the points I've raised with AA. The worst airline...

Well, I'm glad for all of you that can wait and interact with the lounge staff. My experience at terminal 5 had been horrible. This is the second time that Brithis employees are so rude. They didn't even allow me to ask a question. I wanted to know if I could change my seat, the answer was "the flight is full". I replied what about when you start boarding, in Case somebody don't show up. Her answer was "well, are you in the economy class right, so no, it is full". Then at boarding time they called overheard 9 people that were not showing up at the gate but she just didn't want to check. If I have to write about the experience during the check in, you will not want to heard about it. The star they got is because they were physically there.

Not many AA travelers know about this arrival lounge for business/first class and even the flight attendants that I asked were unsure about it. It's been here for decades, hidden away in T3 on level 2 upon exit from security. Today the staff were not very welcoming and demanded to see passports. Maybe this is a fairly new requirement as I dont remember it previously. Ok no problem, but at least be pleasant about it. Food was pretty good as usual, and showers are available to refresh after a long flight. The regular toilets are really inadequate for number of guests. Overall it's not as good as BA's or Virgins arrival lounge but as they are based at LHR that's to be expected. My only minor gripe was the absence of bacon on the menu ....

Great place to spend a short spell after leaving the security area. We were there around noontime on a random weekday in January and had the place to ourselves. I’m sure it is not always that empty but it sure was nice. They had ample food and drink options to get you started. The espresso machine requires some assistance because it has a problem with the tube that feeds the milk but the staff are apparently accustomed to it and know how to quickly fix it. All the staff I talked to were very nice. You need to be in First, Business, or hold certain status to get in (if you get in based on status, you cannot bring a guest).
