We held our Wedding here on weekend of August Bank Holiday as Burgh House is an extension of London Borough of Camden Wedding Registry Office. The most perfect and beautiful setting. All the staff at Burgh House are extremely helpful with coordinating al the various aspects of an 'in-house' wedding. The venue is small - maximum 64 guests (cosy) but intimate which means all the guests feel part of the whole ceremony. The staff could not have been any more helpful and were attentive and focused on helping us create a special day. All our guests remarked on the specialness of the venue and how lovely the staff were. Nothing was a problem. The Wedding was held in 'The Music Room' and we had use of the Gallery and other Ground Floor rooms on the day - so it felt very personal and 'ours'. All the Catering was handled in-house by 'LEAFI' who also run the Basement Cafe. Our food was generally a twist on classics, with vegetarian alternatives incorporated, but we are still receiving compliments about the food - 2 weeks after the event. Prawn Cocktail with jumbo prawns and avocado were phenomenal - followed by Chicken with Thyme (really strong but lovely) and a Bitter Chocolate Tort. We arranged our own drinks, Wedding Cake and Flowers and all at Burgh House and Leafi were very accommodating. Although they have all the contacts to coordinate this on your behalf if you want them to act as a 'one-stop' shop. Cannot recommend this venue enough and the service was exceptional. Big shout out to Sophie, Frances, Liam and Manuela for all their expertise and help....
Read moreWe had a fantastic ceremony here for our wedding. The staff at Burgh House (Mark and Victor) were just excellent throughout and in the lead up to our wedding day. They made it very easy to plan and were always on hand if we had any questions. They let us know exactly what to expect and put our minds at ease.
For our wedding, the food at Leafi (who run Buttery Cafe and are the in house caterers for Burgh House) was very good but during the course of our wedding planning we had to talk to three different managers. The catering staff organising the ceremony just didn’t instil confidence in the same way as Burgh House did. For example: forgetting a scheduled appointment with us as well as contacting us 2 days before the wedding the tell us that they couldn’t fulfil certain items on our menu which we had agreed months beforehand. We got there in the end though and perhaps we had our wedding during a difficult period in Leafi’s organization. The above is why we’re giving 4 stars instead of 5 for this review. If we could review Leafi separately it would be 3 out of 5.
Overall, Burgh House a beautiful venue, museum and gallery space. Highly...
Read moreI am still marvelling at the ineptitude of the service I received today at Burgh House. All I really wanted was a cream tea, and my boyfriend, a chai latte, and given that the queue was only about 6 or 7 families long, and we had found a table, albeit with dirty plates on it, I was pretty optimistic at the outset. I couldn't have been more mistaken. I queued for over 35 minutes, only to be told at the counter that they had run out of English Breakfast tea! The waitress took my order and passed it on to her colleague, who was frantically trying to prepare all the drinks while the other two took payments and put cakes on plates, a system that clearly wasn't working! When it finally came to my turn, I was handed a tray with the wrong kind of latte, a scone and a pot of Earl Grey. When I asked for the missing jam and cream, the waitress disappeared into the kitchen for atleast another 5 minutes, while her colleague cobbled together a very small chai latte, which turned out to be stone cold. When I got to the table and sat down we realised I hadn't been given a knife. This all for £10.25. When we left, the dirty plates were still on the table....
