Yuhei Hair Salon (YUKO Hair Straightening Specialist) — Local services in London

I had been a loyal customer of Yuhei’s since 2017; seeing him for my Yuko straightening every 9-12 months to straighten my long naturally wavy hair. During my recent 2024 visit for 9 months worth of re-growth treatment; Yuhei significantly damaged my hair by leaving the solution on for an extra 10 mins more all over, which he mentioned only in passing whilst he saw another customer at the same time as my usual chemical treatment time had come to an end. This extra ’10 mins more all over’ equated to an extra 50% of treatment time above my usual treatment time with the chemical solution. Yuhei did not even check my hair before deciding to add this extra 10 mins. The judgement & communication this time from Yuhei was very poor. Yuko treatments are supposed to be bespoke/personalised timings, rather than a ‘one size fits all’. I had booked my appointment 2 months in advance, and as usual paid my deposit 2 weeks in advance of my appointment to secure the appointment time (as per their booking policy), yet Yuhei was treating other customers during my booked time, which resulted in him severely damaging my hair. Yuhei did not even follow the process to protect my previously treated lengths and had allowed the solution to drip down into my lengths resulting in damage throughout my hair, so not only did Yuhei destroy the hair treated for 9 months worth of regrowth, but he also destroyed my lengths. He has left my hair burnt & brittle, and a lot of hair broke off near to the roots. I’ve since had to have a total of 6 inches of length cut off. My hair is still severely damaged and broken throughout and can only be grown out. The quality & standards at this salon have noticeably dropped where Yuhei doesn’t focus on one customer at a time and is constantly distracted. The inside of the salon also smelt strongly of cigarette smoke, which was unpleasant - not to mention inappropriate inside a salon setting. I deserved to be treated better than I was by Yuhei, anyone deserves better than this. It will take me at least 2 years to regrow healthy lengths whilst cutting out this damage regularly. The damage has resulted in significant hair loss due to overall breakage which has been very upsetting & distressing for me. Yuhei has now demonstrated that he has the ability to work unsafely & negligently, and he cannot be trusted to work with chemicals. I can never recommend Yuhei to friends & colleagues again. The only place for the Yuko treatment. I have been a client of Yuhei's for 15 - maybe 16? - years, having my hair straightened roughly every 8 months or so. 3 years ago I moved abroad, so can't get to him easily anymore. There is no-one in my area doing Yuko, so I tried a Keratin treatment that left my hair damaged and frizzy and took over a year to grow out. My work took me abroad again, and I found a Yuko treatment close by the client premises, but after I washed my hair the first time, I saw my hair was still wavy at the back. I have been having yuko or hair straightening done here for years. Yuhei and his team are super sweet and friendly. The salon is beautiful and clean. Cosy but small. Located in Hampstead. What I love the most is the care and attention to detail, customer service. Your hair is in safe hands. Yes it is costly but I know many people who have had a bad experience by going to a cheap salon. Yuhei and his team are experienced in yuko. They are professional and know what they are doing.
