Hands down my favourite one stop shop, offering bespoke picture framing as well as ALL the studio materials and equipment you’d expect in an excellent art suppliers. All round good egg and musical goddess Hester Baldwin moved this newer incarnation of Green & Stone to Fulham Road just before Covid hit and it’s since grown - and continues to grow - bigger and better. There is now a beautiful gallery space linked to the shop, attracting artists and buyers from UK and beyond. Every member of staff is also a practising artist and will go the extra mile to help you, make recommendations, order in anything not already stocked (rare because they already have everything you could possibly need). It always looks fresh and is dressed in a kooky, original way. It has broad appeal as a useful high street shop but it also has a particular magic soul and generosity of spirit which few exhibit these days. It is all the things you’d want a good art shop to be whilst also fulfilling the uncommon roles of taste maker, brand experimenter, conversation starter, stationery curator, paint platform, brush bringer, visual educator, celebrity attractor, joy generator… with originality and an authentic cool thrown into the mix. It is stuffed with make-and-do ideas to inspire and original gifts for art geeks of all ages who appreciate quality materials and personalised service… Inhale the smell of canvas downstairs! Flick through all the enticingly bound sketchbooks! Try out all the markers! Feast your eyes on the technical drawing/graphics apparatus! Make time for the plaster casts and gorgeous antiques and rare finds section at the back of the shop, sourced by previous owner Rodney Baldwin, as well as the glittering crafting grotto in the basement! A unique life enhancing establishment to roam and rummage, to be enjoyed and cherished! Leave Amazon alone and go to...
Read moreI was headed to a much larger art store and saw this from the bus window so hopped out to have a look. It is a compact little store but has a bit of everything. In my case I was looking for basic gouache, ink, and markers. I was able to source everything I needed but I wouldn’t say they have the biggest selection of brands. If you are after essentials for the studio I think this will do and is a very pleasant space with courteous people. If you need a big shop with various mediums (media?) then a bigger shop will be more suited. So 5 stars for set-up, friendliness, and fitness for purpose and nudging down a star because naturally there is a smaller assortment than a...
Read moreThis local art store seems to have it all. I come here for paints and they have a full range be it simple water paints to more expensive oil paints they have it. I come for the liquid metal paints I use to touch up a few gold frames I own and they work a treat. The staff are very helpful, informative and friendly. They also have all the brushes, accessories and frames if need be. I got a few last minute cards as well. They have little art projects for younger artists. They have inks, clothing paints and other options for your artistic needs. I highly recommend here for art supplies. Please press like if you found my review...
