La Mela: A Haven of Warmth and Flavor in East London

Nestled in the heart of East London, La Mela isn't just a breakfast spot; it's a sanctuary of warmth and familiarity. Every visit feels like coming home, with vibrant flavors and generous portions that never fail to impress. The staff's smiles are as abundant as the fresh ingredients, creating an atmosphere that beckons you back every Sunday morning. My go-to order, The Forager, is a flavorful symphony served with a personal touch – the chef always remembers to swap out black olives for green, a small gesture that speaks volumes about the attention to detail here. But what truly sets La Mela apart is its sense of community. From the owner to the servers, everyone radiates genuine warmth, making you feel like family from the moment you step inside. And let's not forget the resident cat, adding an extra layer of charm to the experience. In a world that often feels chaotic and impersonal, La Mela stands as a beacon of hospitality and heart. Whether you come alone or with a furry friend, you're guaranteed to be treated like royalty. If you're yearning for solace in a sea of bustling cafes, look no further than La Mela – your home away from...

There's nothing to fault really, I would just say I felt it was quite expensive for 2 starters, 2 mains and 4 mulled wines (the wines are what did it) the wines shouldn't be that expensive. Also, my wife ordered the arancini balls for a starter, which were delicious, however it clearly states on the menu 4 and she was given 3. I also believe no matter where you go, table water should be given without question, it was not. I'm sure they'd of provided it if we had asked though.

The service was friendly, checked how each meal was, offered drinks, given time to decide between starters and mains. Brilliant. There's seating at the front, indoors and a heated garden out the back. Toilets available. The menu I believe has changed a lot from what it shows on their website.

I would go back but we'd probably order different drinks. The calamari was crisp, yet soft. The linguine carbonara (linguine freshly made) was a decent size and was enough to fill me up, I hadn't eaten In 10 hours and I'm a pretty big guy. So very happy with the quality of the food and there's plenty of healthy options to...

Normally a good & friendly place to grab a coffee, lunch or breakfast.

I'm a local resident and it's great to have a local place. Two new staff members are extremely rude. The last time I went in for a takeaway coffee the new manager snuffed at me and said 'You do don't spend enough money here, can you not afford food?' then snuffed his breath towards me.

Normally the other waiters and waitresses are very friendly and charming.

Giving it another go today I had a breakfast paying little attention to the new manager, when my food was deliver the waiter kept repeating touching my plate on delivery of the food. Was being openly disrespectful and smiling while doing it. The new manager went behind my back and made a rude gester which I seen in the window reflection.

I wanted coffee not some small person's hostility. I got a coffee before I left as it will be the last time I go to La Mela.

There are friendly places on Chatsworth Road I would recommend instead of...

My friend chose this place as it always looks so busy and looked like a great place to eat. This place is close to the park and it does look good from the outside. On entering, it looked warm and inviting. But we chose to eat outside as it was a beautiful sunny day. The lady serving us was friendly, she was a little busy and did take a while to get her attention, but after ordering the food, it was pretty good, nice portions and was nicely presented. I do hope to go again as we had a good time. What we ordered: Chicken Burger - chicken thigh marinated in garlic, cajun sauce, onion, lettuce, tomato, crushed avocado, served, with fries. Con Pollo - penne pasta, creamy mushroom chicken, fresh tomato, garlic and parmesa. Bliss on the beach x2
