DISH — Restaurant in Elmbridge

Gave it 4stars as I'd waited 15 mins outside at a table not knowing it was not table service. Went in to order came back to my table and a person had taken my table. Mentioned to him that this was my table he said why were you not sat here then, it's a good question as I explained my absence he chided me for claiming the table was mine and why can't I sit over there? . Well I could but that's the reason I chose this table because I did not want to sit over there where he was pointing too. Strange thing is the waitress had already taken his order at my table which considering there was no table service when I was sat there seemed odd . Whilst I had been sitting waiting to place my order a waitress could have at least offered me a menu and explained the non table service policy , but instead she just ignored me missing many opportunities to secure some much needed business with others too. On a very busy day this issue could have created quite a negative experience for all the non regulars as it seems one policy for regulars but others must wait guessing. I ordered Chicken With avo and salad in a bowl with warmed bread it was very good just a shame it took so long to receive it as I was one of only 6 customers so not busy. I even managed to get my original table as the man accepted my explanation of why I was not sat there due to no table service and having to go inside to order.. Although he was quite reluctant I changed my mind and offered him it anyway, then he refused it. . 😀 What would he have said if I'd returned to my table just as he had got up to go inside to order and sat there until he returned .. I will never know but feel assured that at least I was not a chicken cowering on another table as he smugly ate his poached eggs on toast on a table he had originally recommended to me. I have been regularly drinking coffe, every second I would say, if not more, mainly take way I work locally i come after 2pm to have coffee with electric scooter and realise scooter has little charge I was hoping to scooter charged a bit in order not to stuck on road , but to my surprise rude gentleman, i guess he is cheff ,refused me with no explanation. I could understand if its busy time amd place is crowed but couldn't get polite answer from him. Few tables was free and have sockets almost under each table which could use while have coffe and charge it for 15 min. I guess no big deal!!@ Not going back there any more.

Countinius I went to get coffee today 22.07.22 because next door had no coconut milk and regret it immediately!!! Staff recognised me and reported to owner. Owner has approached me and ask what happened which I told him . Instead of being more sensitive and polite he ask me to leave and refused to serve, explaining that I should approached him first before leaving comments. How about him responding to my comments and asking me to come coffee shop or contact him !!! This is what I would do !!! If you going to leave negative comments don't go back because youwon't be served . Absolutely fantastic cafe and my new "must go to" for the almond croissant and superb staff. Some cafes just make you feel welcome and it was so uplifting . We'd just walked through Bushy and thought we'd stroll over the bridge and get a coffee. We've both got issues with saliva glands so the almond paste or custard on the croissant was the best I've ever had in London. I was over in Victoria park the next day and sorry kids but you need to learn from Dish. Whatever their secret is it worked for us. We walked back over to Fulwell with a spring in our step. The sun was shining and the only regret was we hadn't carried more change to tip the staff. We paid by card when we ordered at the counter and it was only £12. I am useless at tipping when I order unless it's a bar and you can buy the staff a drink. I scratched around and found £2.50 but the service was so good and the price so low I'd have happily left the change off a £20.
