Attending the Moulin Rouge! The Musical at the Piccadilly Theatre was an experience that can only be described as breathtaking. From the moment the curtains lifted, I was transported to a world of glitz, glamour, and pure theatrical magic. The production encapsulates the essence of the iconic Parisian cabaret, blending it with a fresh and modern twist that leaves the audience spellbound. The set design is nothing short of spectacular, with the vibrant colors and intricate details capturing the opulence of the Moulin Rouge. Every corner of the stage is alive with movement and energy, creating a visual feast that draws you in from the start. The transformation of the theatre into a lavish Parisian nightclub, complete with twinkling lights and a stunning windmill, sets the tone for an evening of unbridled excitement. The cast delivered powerhouse performances, with each actor embodying their character with passion and precision. The chemistry between the leads was palpable, and their performances brought depth and emotion to the whirlwind romance at the heart of the story. The ensemble was equally impressive, their dynamic choreography and powerful vocals adding to the immersive experience. Musically, Moulin Rouge is a triumph. The soundtrack masterfully weaves together a medley of contemporary hits with classic tunes, each song perfectly chosen to enhance the story's emotional impact. The arrangements were both inventive and nostalgic, creating moments of pure euphoria and deep poignancy. The orchestra deserves special mention for their flawless execution, providing a rich, vibrant soundscape that elevated the entire production. What truly sets Moulin Rouge The Musical apart, however, is its ability to evoke a range of emotions. It’s a rollercoaster of love, joy, heartbreak, and triumph, all wrapped in a dazzling spectacle that leaves you in awe. The show not only entertains but also resonates on a deeper level, reminding us of the power of love and art to transcend time and circumstance. In conclusion, watching Moulin Rouge at the Piccadilly Theatre was an unforgettable experience. It’s a production that dazzles the senses and touches the heart, making it a must-see for any theatre lover. Whether you're a fan of the original film or new to the story, this musical offers something truly special that will stay with you long after the final curtain falls.

Went to see Moulin Rouge, which was fabulous. However, it was the staff that made all the difference from the moment I, arrived. Having a disability I required some extra help to get to my seat. They took us to the area where the lift was and explained that someone will be along in about 15 minutes to take us down. They took us down, escorted us to our seats and then informed me as to the location of the disabled toilet. They asked if I needed anything else, pointed out the QR code on the back of the chairs to be able to order beverages to the the seats and said they'll be back at the interval. They came back at the interval and I asked about a caffienated beverage as I couldn't see any on the menu. There was a coffee machine on another level but Guy went and got a card machine took payment and then proceeded to get my coffee, asked if I needed anything else further and that someone would be back at the end to escort us back up. This was done very shortly after the show ended and we taken back up the lift and outside of the theatre. I would like to give a special shout out to Guy, but every staff member I encountered were helpful and friendly. To an able bodied person this may not seem like much but to someone with a disability just these simple things can make things so much easier, they acted as it this was and every day thing and I did not feel like I was inconveniencing them in any way. I would not hesitate to return in a heartbeat. Thank you again to all the staff who worked the matinée performance on the 25th November 2023.

The good, the bad and the ugly:

The good: The lead singer (Satine) is talented, sings well and is gorgeous. Several of the sets were really beautiful and mesmerizing.

The bad: The show is not a cabaret version. It's nothing even close. It's not much like the movie musical either though I think that's what they were trying to use as inspiration. I would describe it as a bunch of theater men got drunk and did a night of bad karaoke. Some screamed into their microphones, the lead man you could barely even hear. None seemed to have a great singing voice. The show was just poorly transitioned karaoke of songs from ~1950\1960 thru 2015. Many that had nothing to do with the movie musical or the theme. I just thought many of the songs were chosen very poorly.

The Ugly: This Theater could double as a torture chamber! If you are considering the upper level - trust me and do not even bother! I have never seen worse "nose bleed" seats. You cannot see half the stage! They are under you! The seats are so crammed and SO SMALL/ uncomfortable that they make basic economy airline seats feel luxurious and spacious by comparison! I am only 166 cm (5ft 5) tall and my back was against my seat and my knees were jammed into the wooden seat back of the chair in front of me. It was so horribly uncomfortable that I am sure this was the absolute worst theater seating I have ever experienced. Then to top it all off, we sat in the center of the upper area and they continued to shine bright led spotlights into my eyes the entire show, sometimes strobbing the lights to where I had to sit and cover my eyes with my hands! Not at the characters but straight into my eyes! It was so overwhelming to the senses!

In short: If you are only willing to pay for upper level seats, don't even bother going. If you are tall, have epilepsy, have autism, get overwhelmed easily, dislike led headlights in your eyes, or aren't fans of watching bad karaoke, don't bother going to this one. There are MUCH better...
