Today is my first visit to the shop but I was almost ripped off for about 10 pounds. I just bought some normal food but when I paid the bill I was charged around 40 pounds. I paid it at the first time but my gut told me it was not right. When we came out of the shop, my friend and I tried to match the prices on the receipt and those on the food packages. To our surprise, there are 15 items on the receipt but we only have 10 in the bag! We turned back and asked them to check it out. After a while, they found out that they overcharged me for about 10 pounds! Remember my total spend was just around 30, almost 33% extra charge!!! If you look at the old and new receipts they gave to me, they were not even in the same format! Also the descriptions on the receipt are poorly defined. They all have the title of Japanese but no one knows which one is which. The most horrible thing is I couldn't even imagine how many people have paid the extra money just because they trust the shop and there is a 4.5+ review for it. My first experience told me that professional is the last thing you would find in the shop. After finding their mistake, they said nothing but a simple sorry. There was no explanation let alone a compensation. The service was not Japanese-style at all, even though I heard they talking in Japanese to some customers. I am not saying all the Japanese-style business is fading away but this Rice Wine shop should definitely learn much more from their ancestors. Shame on it.

I recently visited Rice Wine Shop, a great grocery shop that also serves hot food. Cause I went there at around 6pm, so they don’t have any more hot food options left. Therefore, I tried their Tuna & Mayo and Teriyaki Salmon Origiri, and while the price was reasonable, I felt like they could have added more stuffing inside to make the Origiri less dry. However, the staff was welcoming and helpful. and the cozy atmosphere of the shop also makes for a pleasant experience. Overall, I would recommend giving Rice Wine Shop a try for their tasty and affordable hot food options (serves until 530pm), even though the Origiri may need a little more stuffing!"

I like shopping Japanese ingredients here as they are inexpensive and although the premise is small, they have a great range of products. I tried their take away curry 🍛 for the first time recently and it was amazing. I ordered one with deep fried prawns and the quality was wonderful and was a nice lunch sized portion as well. It cost me only £6.3 and in this day and age, that's ridiculous pricing. Don't know how much profit they can make! If you are super hungry you might go for extra rice which would cost you only an extra pound (I think). I must try other ones, chicken katsu and pampkin korokke too! Highly recommended.

It is much better prices than the competitor ( J*pan Centre), so I normally straight to come here. Lost one star because the lady at the till was a bit weird and gave me a broken carrier bag and after I paid money, she just left the bag far away from me, so I need to go to pick it up from the basket ( it is not very a light bag!). When I asked a price of small confectionary, she said to me the price is attached to the product but it was not shown outside box ( so I need to pick it up to see the price), in the covid world I am hesitant to touch products if I might not buy them. The queue also could be awkward here because it is a very small shop so I tend to go in and pick up what I need quickly and get out as fast as I could. With a child it is a bit challenging sometimes ( she asks me about many products she...

I am a long time customer of this well-established Japanese food shop in Soho. They offer reasonable prices, friendly and helpful staff as well as reliable quality of products. All my Japanese friends also shop for their Japanese staples. I also praise their efficiency of online shopping service including fast delivery. Unlike their competitors I can talk to their staff if there’s any problem and their polite customer service staff deal with it straight away. Recently I had terrible experiences with their competitor Japanese food shop in the same area for online shopping due to the failed deliveries by DPD twice. I proudly recommend Rice Wine shop to anyone for their real...
