Amazing view, there is no doubt about it. However I would like to say the service was very disappointing. First, they said that I didn't book it with any specific details and told me quite rudely 'Fortunately one table has just been cancelled and that is why we can offer you the menu and service, but you should not do it next time'. I was quite frustrated with their attitudes and I showed them the confirmation email which demonstrated my booking with specific details. They just told me there were not any details on their system but never told me sorry. It was very uncomfortable moment and I felt that the staffs were not really trained well. It is true that this place is way cheaper than any other hotels or lounge bars in London. However, you will see why it is cheaper. The menu was not bad but it was very average. I can say that is not hotel-quality at all. If you just want to enjoy the view at a resonable price, this place will not be a bad choice. But if u want to have a good memory with nice service and menu, then try other places.

Well, the views are worth going for. Very unpleasant, scratched walls take you to ling, thin, corridors. However, initial experience of security, who was rude and there was no female security, I had to be 'scanned ' by male security. He was rude and mumbly. Then, we finally got upstairs and staff was pleasant enough at that point and polite took our coats and then you finally get to see those breathtaking views. We got in early and been sat down as it wasn't too busy. Cocktails were brought by hand, rather than on a tray, it's an awkward sitting in front of the massive glass windows. But well. We had a champagne cocktail and a platter to share. It was ok. Nice cheese and nice touch of crunchy nuts on the salami. I understand that it's about views, staff comes and hoovers after each client leaving which we found odd. It spoils the ambience, somehow. Nice enough music, but our immediate 'neighbour' were very noisy. Overall an average experience, tbh. I think sky garden and the Shard are better.

What can I say, my husband and I were shocked by how bad this was, we got this afternoon tea as a gift from my mum and dad for Christmas. We got there the guy at the reception was nice, we got seated and it took quite a long time for the plates next to us to be cleared which wasn't great , champagne was nice. But then the cake stand came, 6 tiny finger sandwiches, which were a bit stale, poorly presented and not even nicely trimmed wonky which large pieces of crust still attached. Bread was also poor quality it was like value brand supermarket bread. The fillings were bland, and the ham was the cheapest ham value brand again? I think tesco must get a lot of custom from these guys! The scones also were tough and chewy not buttery and melt in the mouth, by the shape I knew it must have been good old tesco again, don't get me wrong I will eat tesco scones, but I'd rather just stay at home for that not pay a premium! The tea was twinings teabag, again ok if you are at home. The two tarts we got were disgusting the chocolate tart tastes like poorest quality chocolate the pastry was soggy and the passion fruit was too sweet and again soggy, I think they were probably defrosted from frozen as the chocolate was so hard. To top it off we then got asked to pay a service charge as we left, WHAT CHEEK, service charge is meant to be discretionary and how can we pay when this was a gift? That makes no sense. What a Con! If you see this as a voucher steer well clear, it's a complete con! You can get a great afternoon tea at Charlotte street hotel for around the same price, and it's 10x better! Go there instead....

I’ve been to Vertigo a few times now and one thing I dislike the most is how they deal with voucher payments. In more than one instance the staff (particularly the manager in duty) is very indiscreet towards redeeming your voucher (both at the beginning and at the end of your consumption) which isn’t the most pleasant experience if you’re there with a guest or companion. Left aside the fact that the discretionary service charge is dashed at you as if you must pay it the way AGAIN they emphasise your voucher payment. A very ā€œupfrontā€ service which seems like you’re custom there is not taken seriously.

Having had this terrible experience in the past I decided to redeem my vouchers over the phone so that I get avoid this horrendous customer service experience. Indeed, I was reassured that the vouchers were redeemed. However it resulted to be the opposite due to internal miscommunication. Rather a truly, embarrassing moment as I voucher payments were stretched and repated throughout.

I’m sharing this because I know how many other customers may feel and believe me if you’re planning to surprise a guest by taking them there, you are likely going to experience this. Be mindful and make a better search on your vouchers...

Genuinely shocked at how many good reviews this place has.. was I in a different building cos the experience I had was very different to previous reviewers! We went on Wednesday for afternoon tea. They walked us past all the normal little sections with proper chairs to a window with a little foot stall to sit on. Then they brought our champagne out and I said to the waitress please can we sit on normal chairs with backs on and not a stall.. she said she'd move us but she never returned. About 15 minutes later another waitress brought our food out and when I said to her we're supposed to be getting moved it looked like a huge inconvenience to her. There was plenty of empty sections but no-one had cleared them away so she brought us over to a dirty table. The whole time in there aswell it was BOILING. To each side of me ladies were fanning themselves with menus it was uncomfortably hot in there we couldn't wait to leave soon as we'd finished eating. Much bettter places to go for afternoon tea. You go for a view and the windows aren't even clean so you get flashback in all...
