12th May 11.45am Myself & Partner went on a long walk from Greenwich to Central London. We were in need of a drink and food, so we went into the Liberty Bounds. The pub was around 40% busy so we thought it would not take too long for the food to arrive. I ordered a drink and a vegetarian panini, and my partner ordered a Pho Bowl and a drink. We ordered from the table.

The drinks arrived within minutes, but we waited for 30 minutes before the food came out. Firstly, my panini arrived (No salad garnish at all). I was just about to take a bite but wanted to ensure it was correct. I have over the years had bad experiences with restaurants bringing out the wrong food. It was a good job I did as this panini had ham inside. I called the waitress and told her I am a vegetarian, and the wrong panini has been brought out. During this time my partners Pho bowl arrived. The waitress asked what I ordered, as I was looking for my glasses my partner pointed my choice out on the menu. She took the panini away and within 2 minutes she came back and apologised and asked us to tell her again what I wanted. Again, my partner showed her on the menu, I said how long will this take as I am really hungry and it’s been over 30 minutes already. She said sorry and went off again. A few minutes passed again and She yet again came back to our table holding the menu still and mentioned something about the chef. Quite annoyed now I said “God, how hard can this be!?”

THIS IS WHEN THINGS GOT REALLY BAD! 2 minutes or so passed when Joe the floor manager) came to our table. He apologised for the delay but assured me the food would be no longer than a minute. He then went onto warm me not to swear to his staff again. I was really shocked and told I didn’t swear, but he said he has to take her complaint seriously. My partner also told him it was not true. I asked what I said to her, but he wouldn’t tell me. I asked if I could speak to the waitress and he refused. I spoke to Joe for about 5 minutes and told him the whole truth, but I could tell he had made his mind up and didn’t believe me. My partner asked in the time he was speaking to me if was I rude, and he said no. (During these 10 minutes, the panini still didn’t arrive.) Then Joe said that after I had eaten, he wanted me to leave the premises. I was shocked and to be honest I was shaking. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing! I told him there are two versions and there is a camera directly above me, and Can he check the footage to validate my truth. He said no. I then got up and asked the lady in the next table if she had heard me swear. She said she didn’t hear anything. I asked Joe for his full name as I was going to complain, but he refused to give it to me. On the receipt it has Joe L (12th May 12.30)

I told Joe he had offended me as she had lied(waitress), and I had never been told to leave a premises before. He was surprised I was offended and asked why this was. I told him he had stepped over the line. I told him that my partner and I work in the city and I never conduct myself in a manner where I would swear at a waitress!

There was no resolution apart from removing the food from the bill. As we waited for our receipt the lady at the next table told me she was stunned by his behavior. She also told me she was a bar manager and would never do that to a customer in a similar situation. Once outside the reality of the situation hit me. I was shook up about it all. I was also very hungry.

I have written a formal complaint and this is a...

If you’re heading to the Tower of London and looking for a convenient, budget-friendly spot to fuel up or wind down, The Liberty Bounds delivers exactly what you’d expect from a Wetherspoons… with the bonus of a prime location.

We stopped in for breakfast before exploring the Tower, and it was the perfect starting point. Classic ‘Spoons menu – reliable and familiar. I had the Freedom Breakfast (a great gluten-free option, though keep in mind it’s prepared in a shared kitchen), and it hit the spot. Nothing fancy, but you know what you’re getting, and that’s part of the charm.

One unexpected highlight? The bathrooms! Genuinely some of the nicest I’ve seen in a pub, clean, spacious, and felt more like stepping into someone’s home than a typical pub loo.

If you manage to grab a window seat, the views are a real treat – you can watch the Tower as you sip your drink. That said, it does get very busy, especially after tourist attractions start opening. We were lucky to grab a table early in the morning, but when we came back for a drink later in the day, the place was packed and there wasn’t a seat in sight. So plan ahead if you want to sit and relax!

In all, a solid spot to bookend your Tower visit – just don’t expect any frills, and try to get...

If you find yourself in the vicinity of the Tower of London and battling the rip-off prices, then this is a good bet for breakfast, lunch or evening meal. Interesting, I have told so many foreign tourists that they can use the free WiFi rather than use up their mobile data and that they can use the app to order from the comfort of their table once connected. I love to sit in the alcoves that I have pictured in this review. In fact, they have a special emotive meaning for me as I had a video conversation with my old inspirational French and German teacher here shortly before he passed away. It is strange how deeply memories are associated with places. Anyway, despite being a Wetherspoons with its CEO's appalling views on our disastrous BREXIT, not that he will ever admit that he was entirely wrong and that he has helped terminate so many opportunities for our young, I don't think that this should impact on his hard working staff. Despite my disdain directed to Tim Martin, I do believe in being fair 《unlike him of course》an suggest you visit if you find yourself locally to keep the hardworking staff in a job. Eat humble pie Tim 《 we would respect you more 》or forever make excuses and...

Doing a bit of homework before visiting London, can and will save you a fortune and ensure you get the best out of your trip. Not 20 yards away, a small shop that calls itself a genuine Fish and chip shop, charges more than double the price that this public house does. The difference ? A plate and a comfortable seat. Being served by really friendly people, compared to your fish and chips in a paper bag. No chance of a fine for littering, plus, it does rain in London !!... I know what my choice would be .. A J.D. Witherspoon in the heart of London This was a total surprise and the experience was certainly very good. Cheap prices and drinks. Which we stopped for on our way out. I would recommend this public house to anybody looking for a great location with value for money, especially a family. Children are welcome and tables were full of families, enjoying the Christmas spirit.. This ideal place to get away from the overpriced tourist traps, cannot be beaten. Just behind the Tower of London !!... You are right by Tower Bridge and this Historical place. If you are visiting the Tower of London or Tower Bridge, you will not regret stopping for a rest and food and drink here !!..
