The karting itself was fun. What was indubitably less fun was emerging from a hectic race, won by Giles in a frankly dubious manner involving high speed shenanigans and quite possibly bribery, to learn that the showers were broken. Upon enquiry it transpired that they had been broken since before Covid. That, in case you have forgotten, means that they have been broken for more than three years.
So there we stood, my companions and myself, our brows liberally bedewed with the honest sweat of our toil, learning that it was now our destiny to sally forth upon the fleshpots of Camden while smelling like Rambo's jockstrap. Frankly London has had a hard time of it recently, what with Covid and Boris Johnson and Liz Truss and the fact that Piers Morgan still has a career, but this seemed like the hardest cut of all.
Our group were perforce obliged to "shower" in washbasins, splashing water over ourselves in cheerful profusion, and causing what I imagine was a significant amount of confusion to the other users of the changing rooms. It is hard to describe the situation accurately, but try to imagine a gang of carefree penguins cutting loose in the pool after a few shandies, and further imagine a flamingo walking in on their antics. The situation was not ideal. It was a considerable distance from ideal. Try to imagine the emotions running through the mind of the gentleman who walked in to wash his hands only to be confronted with the sight of half a dozen disrobed gentlemen splashing water over their torsos and laughing merrily. The situation was fraught, to say the least.
Has London no plumbers? Do we lack sanitation engineers? Can a shower not be repaired in three whole years? Must the pubs of London be obliged to play host to a gaggle of sweat-soaked men imbued with the kind of fragrance that you find after running over a skunk with your car and forgetting to clean it for a week or two? Have we, as a nation, not suffered enough?
TL;DR: fix the darn...
Read moreNot a good place , hence the 1 starred review . I came here for the first time with some friends and we had 3 vouchers . My friends came before to the place and they never once told them that the vouchers could not be used on the weekend . Okay so now back to point we went and we actually looking forward to go karting but no they had to tell us then that the we weren’t able to use our vouchers so we left seeing as we could not do anything. Later on in the week we came back because we were allowed to use our vouchers , we booked online and then entered the place we were greeted by a lovely lady who was fairly nice to us still doesn’t change the 1 starred . The lady has told us that we were late for our session when in fact we were on time but okay . She had told us that we booked a kid for an adult session , however we in fact booked for a family session , the lady could not do anything about it and called the manager . He had made us wait like 20 minutes not looking good so far , he later came down and said he had something to do and would come later to help us . There was also another man who had explained to a man working there at reception that the app was not letting him get a discount or something along the lines of a discount , again another red flag . The man was genuinely annoyed and so were we , the manager had finally came down to assist us 🙄 all to tell us that we in fact booked only one person and used the vouchers for the other 2 people , one being the child we booked for “adult” he said that he couldn’t do anything about it and that he also couldn’t give us a refund and that if we wanted one we would have to call someone . I don’t think this is right because seeing as he is the manager of the place he should be in charge of this and in charge of everything right ? well clearly we have been proven wrong .! only go to this place if you’re ready...
Read moreThe only, and I mean ONLY nice staff member was the bearded, glasses wearing fella at the front desk who was leading our sessions who from the moment we came in greeted us with a great welcome and smile. He was cheerful in every interaction asking how we were at the beginning down to asking if this was for a special occasion (I said it was a birthday) as we walked in, during our break in between sessions, and when we were leaving. I wish I got his name to drop a positive mention in this, because I’m glad at least he was here during our sessions since literally the other 3 staff members who were present during our time there overseeing the venue were just incredibly rude and unfriendly to be around. I had negative experiences with 3 other staff members. I was talked rudely and nastily to while being pushed out by the guy sitting overlooking corner up to the wooden ramp for the main pits while I span out. The guy behind the bar I felt purposefully refused to acknowledge me at the bar while I waited as he faffed around. When I got his attention I was met with the impression he hated his job and didn’t want to be there as he spoke to me monotone and with below 0 energy. I especially didn’t appreciate having a door bumped into my knee by another guy worker who I am sure did purposefully with the sole intention to stop and turn around to spitefully let me know I shouldn’t stand there unless I wanted to be hit. Mind you he saw me not just 30 seconds ago on his way into the door in the first place and I was standing at the door of the changing rooms waiting for someone. I don’t feel like I’m nit picking but go karting is physically taxing during a heatwave with a humid track and you really don’t want to deal with childish adults when all you are there to do is enjoy your time. Promote the bearded fella this would be 1 star without him. 29 July,...
