Beautiful. Serene. We attended for an evening live-music event which included activities. The only external sound was that of the aeroplanes travelling overhead. It was both very interesting and saddening to see some of the graves and memorials in the hallways. We were able to view the Pyx chamber and Chapter House rooms. The Chapter House has the remains of paintings on the walls from the late 1300s. I would definitely attend any future similar events held in this space. Lovely wee circular window of St Francis, beautiful wee courtyard garden with a fountain that takes you into possibly the oldest garden in England which is tranquil compared to the crowds in the rest of the Abbey. Also a doorway onto the ruins of the original Abbey. Which although one cannot enter is spectacular viewing. Lots of tombs in the walls and floor slabs of bygone heroes of a forgotten age.
