During the covid-19 I highly recommend avoiding this place at all cost!!!

So it all started in November when I saw that KLM (airline) started organizing flight to Jakarta again. I decided to ask my girlfriend (who lives in Jakarta, Indonesia) to call the airport and see if visa on arrival is available. The airport answered a solid no, so I started to search for other ways to get a visa for December. Many forums brought me to two places, Indonesian Embassy and The Immigration Office in Indonesia.

At first, my girlfriend tried to apply for my eVisa as a sponsor. Logging on in the morning (at the time the office opens), it always said the daily visa quota was reached in the morning! One day my girlfriend tried to open the Immigration Office Website and the website was down (not showing up at all). She tried calling them for 2 weeks (which is approaching December now). No one ever answered the phone! Then on the 3rd of December the website finally worked and she could apply for my visa. For the eVisa, you need a proof of address and a proof of leaving the country. So naturally I bought the tickets and booked the apartment to send her the proof. Once again the website was unavailable.

So in panic, I sent an email to the Indonesian embassy explaining "the Immigrasi Office is not working, I need a help from the embassy." I also tried calling them but the automatic robot said to visit the website if you want to apply for visa (the recorded voice message did not say ANYTHING about visa NOT AVAILABLE). So full of hope, I sent them multiple emails. The embassy replied a "copy and paste email" suggesting to visit the Immigrasi Office.

From the email, I understood that I should contact the Immigrasi Office for a visa but it is not mandatory. For me it looked like an option that could work but would not have to.

So I entered the Indonesian embassy to apply for a visa. There was another massive document suggesting to apply for an eVisa through the immigrasi office. I said okay, but I want to apply for visa in the embassy. So I press okay, and the website tell me to register for a visa.

So I register, everything looks fine. Then I got an email (below in the posted picture) and it clearly said Congratulations!!! I was all happy and excited so I read the next step. "Please send the following documents". So I buy a massive envelope for my passport and all my documents, I also printed out my application.

My envelope arrived to them today. All my documents provided were correct. During my university laboratory I get a call from the embassy saying that they cannot process visa.

After my university class I called the embassy back and argued with a lady for 15 minutes. I clearly told her that their website is misleading and there is a lot of misinformation.

In my opinion, if the embassy cannot process visas. THEN THEY SHOULD DELETE THE VISA SECTION! Why was the visa registration section available for me? This was not a one day bug, that section is available all the time. So I told the lady the section should not be there. She kept repeating the same phrase that the embassy cannot process the visa.

I know now that the embassy cannot process visas, but why is the section still up and running on the website and it looks as if it is working? Second image clearly shows that there is some type of visa application in process. The tourist visa section was also fully working and it allowed me to select it on the website?

Indonesia really hates foreigners. They don't care about you! I even asked, okay you got my documents, could you maybe try to somehow help me? "no no sir". Aggghhh.

The website should get an update now! Delete the visa registration section now.

If this section is still available by next week and it still accept visa applications. I will contact my lawyer and talk about customer misleading.

The embassy only sent confusing emails saying that I should contact the immigration office. BUT they never told me i cannot apply for a visa through them. All the notification to me, only looked like gentle...

Visited today with my grandparents who do not communicate in English therefore I was there to translate the moment we stepped in the lady there was absolutely rude and vile towards us for no reason, I was wearing shorts which I didn’t know wasn’t permitted , fair enough I apologised then she started to inspect the outfit of my uncle who was also there with me abit weird but yes. After she asked for documents I placed all infront of her she skipped through everything and showed me the check list in the most belittling way and said to move and check there and come back but I had everything I said have a check and she started with rude attitude towards me and my uncle. I said sorry mam but please just fix the way your speaking it’s not nice I just need clarification of what document you are specifically requesting she started pulling all sorts of faces etc being rude then she said she’s not having this blah blah I said I’ve been here multiple times before I’ve done this and I’ve handed in the same documents she said I’ve been here 6 years I don’t remember you well duh how you going to remember every face silly lady she was trying to doubt the fact I’ve had the visa multiple times before etc she basically in the end said she refuses to look at our documents and wants us to leave all the staff then decided to join in and tell us to leave when we said or did nothing wrong !!!! ANYWAYS FIX YOUR STAFF you are not prestigious stop acting it, and stop being racist towards people that are non native to your country it’s a disgusting look you was concerned about my shorts but you should of been concerned with your attitude I’m gonna get the visa done regardless they can’t stop it but the process and time waste is ridiculous they hate there jobs and act like they need a pay rise might aswell go on strike weird people. Also forgot to mention she started talking extremely slow as if I couldn’t understand English or something...

Easy to find (well signposted as I was walking down Gt Peter Street). No queuing which was nice. However, having been told in Jakarta that all I needed to do was present the approval letter from the Direktorat Jenderal Imigrasi plus photos, passport and payment.....I was a bit surprised to then be told I still had to fill in (another) visa application form. The form is a bit confusing in that one has to complete all sections before you can move to the next page but a number of the questions were not relevant or had no sensible answer/solution. For example, it asks who is your employer.....I am retired so I am not employed.....so what do you fill in????? Fortunately there was an Indonesian lady from the embassy who came out to help people with their applications and she was excellent, a really great help. Anyway, we managed to complete the application form, submit it, and two days later my passport was delivered to me at home with the correct visa. Excellent, great, thank you. I would suggest that the application form is made a bit easier and straightforward (another example is that it asks for details of your flight booking.....well, one shouldn't book a flight until you know that you have been granted a visa)!! Another suggestion: it would be a great help if the embassy would accept cash (£, $ or Rupiah), or credit/debit card, or cheques as payment. Postal orders from the Post Office are antiquated and unnecessarily costly - and take a bit more time to go and...
