Visited for the first time to see a rock concert in the rear standing section, sort of close to the front. Overall, it was 2/3 good and 1/3 bad I would say. The venue is huge and loud! Bring earplugs.
I went in June, and i think it was about 26C, plus body heat . Luckily, i wore light cotton clothes and was prepared for the heat (fan, wipes, roll on deodarant, etc). I recommend bringing spare undergarments if you can because you're filthy by the end of it and maybe a hankerchief for the sweat. I had something to eat, and then I got in the queue about 15 mins before the doors opened. I recommend getting there earlier if you want to be closer to the front. Be aware of your surroundings and enquire about what to din in an emergency, I.e. exits, toilets, water stations, etc. Entry was smooth and well managed, loads of security and staff who were really good. There was a good amount of bathrooms and selection of food and drink inside (not sure if they do V options). Some more water refill sections might be good. Once I was in, I rested in preparation for the long periods of standing. Bring comfy shoes! As a 5ft5 slim lady, it was taxing on the body, especially during summer, but i survived. I tried to stretch throughout, which helped a bit, and some people rested along the railing, which was a smart move. You'll be sore the next day. Be warned that it can get rough, stinky, sweaty, and unpleasant. You sort of become a part of it xD. The first 1/4 was alright but as time went on, the front became more compacted and at one point, I had little personal space and it was claustrophobic, especially in the heat surrounded by huge dudes. I'd recommend standing in the centre back maybe or along the sides (view will be slightly obstructed though), there was a smaller section on the left too, situate yourself near some women perhaps and connect with people near you so that you can build some comradery, it does make a positive difference. Good luck trying to see the stage or even the screens. It became more difficult as time went on, and eventually, there was a 6ft dude in front of me. I think the stage needs to be higher, and they need more/ larger screens. I think people were mostly considerate around me, but there were some that were poorly behaved/ too rowdy i.e. belong to the moshpit. It did put a slight damper on things temporarily and i had to tell them to be careful but luckily they eventually simmered down a bit. Unfortunately, there was a mini moshpit behind me, which was somewhat scary, but I later saw that you had to push them back if you didn't want to be involved. Luckily, I met one guy that kept an eye out for me, which I really appreciated as a solo visitor. Try to be kind, mindful and take care of others. I think the stadium needs to have behaviour rules/ etiquette and possibly security amongst the crowd. Generally I think people were helpful, but if you were in trouble, I'd worry how you'd get aid quickly. I think smoking should be banned. One guy was smoking a cigarette right next to me and it was horrible, and some vapers rudely blow it near your face instead of upwards. Don't be too considerate, don't take things too seriously and be prepared to stand up for yourself assertively, i.e. i tried to maintain personal space with others but then people trying to get to the front squeezed into those. Many people try to weave their way in and out for drinks which was annoying. Luckily, they handed out water throughout. Know when to stand firm when there isn't much room, as one huge guy nearly pushed me over and didn't even apologise. I think the merch was mainly overpriced t-shirts and some hats. If you like to move to the music and are physically able, I recommend standing, just be prepared for the above and try to enjoy yourself. I'm not used to expressing myself in public but it got easier with time. Ultimately, it was fun to vibe and sing with the crowd. I wanted to try this once, but I think next time, I need to be physically fitter and/ i might try the seated area and look for a concert that...
Read moreWe visited Wembley Stadium for the recent Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band concert - 2024 European tour. Whilst Bruce Springsteen had two shows on in London we Only attended the show on the Thursday night 25th July 2024. I must say his performance was absolutely fantastic. He played most of his hits some classics too. The layout for how the concert was ran was amazing. It was our second time seeing Bruce Springsteen both in London with the previous show being in Hyde Park July 2023.
If I was asked to rate how Bruce and the Band was I would give five stars but as this is rating Wembley itself I can only allow for one star. I must say that the staff at Wembley whilst in the whole were great others were not so.
We were directed to the Yellow Zone as per our tickets. We had to show all three of these before we could even get to the queue. We were directed towards a very long queue and told to keep moving forwards. Again there were stewards along the way periodically checking tickets. This was the third time we had to display all three tickets. As we neared the front of the queue we were then asked to display the tickets again which had become very frustrating. This is when we were told that we were in the wrong queue and had to move to the queue for those who would be seated for the concert. This became very frustrating indeed. How can your staff check tickets for times before telling you that you were in the wrong queue. We were eventually told to go to turnstiles J to obtain entry.
As we got into the stadium we had items taken from us that were no listed as prohibited on the Wembley website. Whilst a gentleman was trying to say it was fine we could take the items in others were stopping him and saying that the website was not up to date. He asked one of the staff if they could keep it aside for us due to the supposed error on the website only to be told no and we'd have to leave the item in the bag store at a cost of £10. I said that I'd go out but they were refusing to allow me back into the stadium as my ticket had already been scanned and I should have read what items were prohibited prior to gaining entry. We had read this and if the website was wrong what sections of the website was wrong? I must say that the staff at the bars were most helpful though as we needed a refund for an item and they were glad to help.
During the show I had to take my daughter to the toilet. On the way back we were stopped and asked to show our tickets again. I explained that we were already seated. The chap named Glenn at section 115 was very rude to me and caused upset to my daughter. He told me I needed to wearing a wrist band to enter. I explained we were not given wrist bands. He told me that I couldn't go through. Glenn nor his colleagues stopped anyone else to ask and I questioned this. He told me that they all had wristbands on. There were tens of people going through at the time and not all of them had visible wristbands. I eventually had to again find my tickets to display. I wonder though what if the tickets were stored on my wife's phone would he have allowed me to fetch her? Luckily the concert was great despite how the staff treated us during our visit. This was my sixth visit to Wembley (American football, Football cup finals and international games at the old Wembley. 1 football game and first concert at the new Wembley). It would take something big to get me to go back to...
Read moreBeing the largest event venue, let alone stadium, in the UK meant I had to visit when Linkin Park were playing here on their From Zero world tour. This was at the tail end of June with the weather around 30C or so.
The opening acts began at 6pm while LP themselves were due to come on stage at 8:30pm so I decided to get here at 5pm to grab an early dinner before making my way in. I had one of the cheapest seats in section 507 and it was really far away, but I knew what I was getting and you do get what you pay for after all.
First of all, getting around wasn't difficult and queues for food around 5pm weren't bad at all. There were queues for the merch but that was it really. I got my food and finished it pretty quickly and had time to spare so went to the local Wembley Designer Outlet, which was a really short walk away, for around 30 mins till it was a bit past 6 so I decided to go into the stadium. The outlet wasn't too busy at all with only a handful of shoppers in each store.
Getting in was a little difficult as I was in the green zone and couldn't see any signs for it so I just asked a helper and they directed me clearly so I made it there and surprisingly there were no queues anywhere at all really to get in. Maybe a few people at any "entry point". There was even a water refill station inside the stadium just before the actual seating area so that was great as I could refill my plastic bottle (not allowed to keep the caps on though).
Onto the concert itself - in my opinion the sound wasn't great quality, nor were the screens, but that might just be because I'm sitting so far away. The lighting effects were good though and LP still rocked it! The seats were also not that comfortable either after being there so long but it's your standard affair for open stadiums. Nowhere near as nice as the O2. The fellow fans and vibe saved the quality of the sound and seating though, as any good concert does! Thankfully it was relatively breezy so it didn't feel too hot anywhere either, whether that be outside or inside the stadium. I was worried that it being open meant it would be boiling but it was fine and I didn't miss the aircon.
Although it looks like there are loads of people around, walking to and from the stadium to the local Wembley Park station was fine and I was never stuck. I did leave just as the final song from Linkin Park finished though as I heard sometimes they'll control the number of people going into the station and I didn't want to risk missing my train home! There were issues with the metropolitan line both when I was making my way there and on my way home though and I could only see it going up to baker street so that was busier than usual and I had to get the jubilee line for the rest of my journey but it didn't delay me too much!
All in all, worth experiencing but definitely not my preferred venue, even if the location is...
