We were holidaying in the area and decided to give Looe beach a go. We took our 18 month old who had never been to a proper Sandy beach before and he had a fantastic time, we were so happy he was enjoying himself, lots of space to enjoy himself and run about. The reason I rate it lower is the seagulls, they are lethal! I live on the coast myself so I know how seagulls are but these ones are dangerous. My son was eating a tiny bit of ham sandwich and a group of them suddenly covered him trying to grab his food. They got his whole thumb in their mouth and all I could do was grab him by the arm and yank him out of all the birds. All very scary for him, and he had a few nasty cuts and skin tears on his thumb. This happened to a few people just in the hour or so we were at the beach. Be wary if you’re eating there! Also walking through the town at Looe one of them nicked a whole pasty out of my hands.

But the beach itself...

East Looe Beach is one of our favourites. The sand is soft, easy digging, easy to find sea and beach glass. The beach levelled / racked and seaweed cleared up with a tractor every morning, resulting in a clean beach.

Get there before 9am, and you will find easy parking, after 10am and you will struggle.

The Deck chair hire is reasonable and the operators are friendly and helpful.

The seagulls are as evil as everyone states, they will dive down and grab any food, I’ve seen three go after a small child and fly away with a bag of doughnuts.

Toilets are clean and working.

Highly recommended beach to spend...

We return here twice every year (apart from lockdown obviously!) and couldn't love it more! The local eateries are great, the place is stunning and the beaches are clean. The local people are kind, happy and helpful. We stay in various cottages and this year is our first time at Quay view. A fantastic 2 storey apartment above the best bakery in East Looe (we got a complimentary cream tea waiting in the fridge when we arrived!) I cannot recommend this place enough. Its open all year round and there's always something to do. Gorgeous in all weather, can't wait to move here and be a part of the...

Great flat beach for all members of the family. Lovely soft sand to sit on whilst the kids make sand castles with the slightly damper sand beneath. Really clean beach and clear sea. Large stone steps at the back of the beach that seem to be a favourite for people to sit on overlooking the whole beach. East looe beach also features a basketball/ netball hoop, table tennis and chess/ draughts tables situated on the stone walkway at the back. Just on the other side of the rocks at the end of the walkway is a lovely stone/ shale beach.

Great beach for a day out, the only thing I want to mention : the toilet should be cleaned more often and you need to queue everywhere and that's annoying, two car parks available : one in Centre of the city not far from the beach and is the most expensive( 8- 12 pounds depending how much you want to stay) , the second car park - return trough the bridge second road on your right (5,50 pounds all day) If you have kids, you can entertain them to do crabbing, an amazing experience for them and parents of course!!!
