We stumbled upon the Mevagissey Museum on a rainy day, and what a brilliant surprise it turned out to be! This small museum is absolutely packed with a treasure trove of fascinating items, each one offering a glimpse into the rich history of the village and the lives of the people who lived there.
From fishing and boatbuilding to everyday life in the village, the displays are full of character and detail. You really get a sense of the community and its past.
We had the pleasure of chatting with one of the lovely museum volunteers I’ve unfortunately forgotten her name, but she was incredibly informative and an absolute delight to talk to. Her passion for the museum and Mevagissey’s heritage really added to the experience.
If you find yourself in Mevagissey, don’t miss this little gem. It’s well worth a visit...
Read moreI loved it here. There's So much to see and it's all fascinating. If you love ships or have bored kids, or both! You'll be in your element. There's masses of interesting things that have been found locally and gifted to the museum, there's also loads of artefacts and some really strange exhibits, but all great fun. He who Wanders off said not to say Too much as it'd spoil it for the visitors lol, but it Really is worth a visit. Its easy to get into and I think you'll be as surprised as I was. One valid point though. Its on 4 levels! I'm on crutches and couldn't get past the 1st floor, but he who wanders off vanished!! He was missing for over an hour and announced upstairs to be 'mmmmmmmm' high praise indeed...
