Teacup Tearooms - as simple as that... And a bit more refined and sophisticated as... While the whole world is burning, we are soaked through with bleak and dreary weather here in the UK. Craving cosiness, I close my eyes and reminisce when I felt content, relaxed and safe. One picture comes to my mind... Watercolour poppies painted over the saucer; the comforting tinkling sound of pouring tea... Steam rising from the teacup, mingling with the 1930s music in the air - the ephemeral permeates the reality... Just as then, just as now, I forget about the outside world. I forget everything. There are only a few places that can do that to you... Bah! I can sense scepticism - okay, I agree, overly poetic, but trust me and stay with me! Read on! The Teacup Tearoom in Mevaiggessey - deserve a lyrical description to recount accurately one's experience! Ideal for family time - furry members included - a date or a solo call. Perfect for a hygge, book and coffee session, traditional tea, luncheon, cake indulgence, or catch-up with your bestie. Upon the threshold, you and your fluff are greeted by the owner - pup gets a snack, and you can choose a doggy blanket from the basket and place it under the table - where doggos are asked to stay throughout your visit. Tablecloths are changed for every customer, and tables are adorned with vases of fresh flowers. Sat at your table, you have an elegantly looking - and divinely smelling - my favourite Lavender - sanitising gel - a little touch in the post-Covid world. Now, I know it is not easy to focus on the menu as you want to appraise every nook and cranny! The place has cottagecore vibes! Chalky white dressers with snuggled vintage jars brimmed with biscuits, marshmallows and delicious sundries! Caddies, pouches and boxes of tea and coffee! Books and local crafts! Truly a local beacon where everyone is welcomed! You are nudged by your companion, "Have you chosen yet?" The menu would satisfy anyone - you look around, spying on what others ordered to help you choose... Cripsy bap with zesty avocado and crunchy bacon. Towered traditional cream tea. What about those beautiful cakes on display? Mini Bakewell tarts, Raspberry and Peach Muffins, Cherry Pie! Oh, and gluten-free scones! Everything looks so scrumptious, and you can't have all? But can you not? Perhaps, not on the first visit! But I will definitely revisit this part of the world, only if to try the other goodies from the menu and cakes! But this time, I ordered a traditional scone, and don't you dare call it a cliché thing to do in Cornwall! These homemade scones were the most delicious I have ever had! Served with strawberry jam and a generous portion of clotted cream - everything is locally sourced and made! I don't know about you, but for me, how the food is served is as important as the food itself. Everything was top-notch; vintage silverware - a cream spatula to scoop your cream from the ramekin and the wide knife to slather it onto your golden scone. Despite Teacup Tearooms serving a plethora of teas - including one of my favourite rare Russian Caravan - I went for something even more special! Tregothnan Earl Grey - the very first English-grown tea! Even a flake in your ice cream cannot be more Britsh than this! And whilst you are enjoying your meal, you can purchase the jam, Tregothnan tea and other delectable rarities! Once the magic bubble bursts, you probably think about the cost of such an experience... Don't fret! When West Country emulates French Riviera prices, you are part of the local community - the prices are sane, and I would pay more for such goodness! Now, the thing is - there are no bookings - walk-ins only, and the place is very, VERY popular. I was lucky enough to get a table upon my first attempt. But you know what? This place is getting more interesting and covetable for that reason. Otherwise, you could come in between rush hours. What are you waiting for!?

If you're looking for a traditional tea rooms with a few thoughtful twists then this is the one for you. Of course the cream teas are epic, so filling they're a meal on their own. A helpful shovel utensil is provided for the clotted cream, a special spoon for the epic jam (raspberry is my favourite). And they also have plenty of signs suggesting the proper way to load your scone - jam first of course! But thankfully this tea room is not a one cream-tea trick pony. The sandwiches are epic doorsteps with quality locally sourced fillings, the home made cakes are amazing, and the tea cakes are yummy. A lot of the jams and relishes can also be purchased in jars to take away. As a tea rooms you'd expect good tea and they serve locally sourced Tregothan tea in many variants. The backdrop to the tea is the high quality decorated china bowl style tea cups - love them - with plenty of milk in small milk bottles for those who like tea and milk (smaller pattern tea cups are also available if you don't like bowls). They also sell the loose leaf teas to take away - I couldn't resist buying several on a recent visit. A very welcome bonus is that each serving of tea comes with an egg timer (3 mins, 5 mins, etc) and a plate to take your leaves out of the pot when its at the desired strength. Oh and for coffee lovers, the barista coffees are delicious too! Two more interesting twists are that they actively welcome dogs - they have freshly laundered rugs for them to sit on. I think this is because the owners love dogs (and the odd cat on a lead). I'm not a big dog lover (I'm a cat person) but it's lovely to see the dogs well looked after. And secondly, they have a range of gluten free foods for those intolerant or choosing to leave gluten behind, and actively support this by having stickers in the shop with a QR code for a gluten free outlet finder app. If there was any slight negative is that it doesn't seat too many covers and it can be full sometimes. If so its definitely worth taking a walk and coming back a bit later, you'll be pleased you did. Overall a rare and fantastic tea rooms, one of my all time favourites, that gets all the title details right. If I lived nearby I'd be in multiple times in a week.

What an absolutely uniquely pleasant experience! My partner and I went for some coffee and a bagel for her birthday with our dog, Tide, and just wow - what service! They had a quaint little ‘canine corner’ with a fresh little dog bed (towels and blankets supplied as well for wet pups!) and they even had a wall filled with pictures of every other canine guest that has been there before đŸ„č The coffee was sublime and the bagels were honestly the most delicious thing we had ever eaten before. The staff/owners were utterly lovely and so polite and tentative to us, and they adored Tide (he was relishing the attention😂) Catering to all dietary requirements (my partner and I are vegetarian), this amazing little cafe is truly one of a kind! Immediately upon entry we were asked about dietary or allergy requirements, which just proves their commitment to their patrons and shows a level of care in their establishment that is truly rare these days. We cannot recommend this place enough and will 100000% be visiting whenever is possible!

For an out of this word experience visit the Tea Cup tea rooms. The staff are rude and condescending , not accommodating in any way and completely absent of customer service. If their noses were any higher they would suffer from altitude sickness. Unfortunately we never got to experience the food but did find a great place further down called the Cake Hole. Friendly, accommodating and excellent food. Every cloud has a silver lining. In reply to the owners response to our review I would like to point out the following: no furniture was dragged across the floor. A chair was placed at the end of a table . We were not told it was not safe to put a chair there for reasons of health and safety , you just shouted ‘No ‘ across the tea room , stating it blocked the access , how much access do you need ? We went to sit at separate tables but then decided to go elsewhere as it had been made perfectly obvious that you didn’t want us to be there. As we were leaving a cushion fell from a chair as it was placed back under the table, you then accused us of disrespecting your furniture . I do not recall at any point were any of our party rude or disrespectful in any way, we were just disappointed that we were spoken to rudely and treated like we were a burden. I suggest you review your CCTV and let me know exactly what comments from our party were considered rude or disrespectful.

Ah so you have checked your cctv and now trying to defend yourselves. As you have looked at the cctv you will see that three people entered followed by another two about 15 seconds behind, as I was in the later I certainly did not hear any instructions from you. I picked up the chair innocently ( not dragged ) from another table so I could sit with my family, you then shouted across the room whereupon I replaced the chair and went to sit at the other table, it was then we decided to go elsewhere. So as you have viewed the cctv which member of our party threw your cushion on the floor or was that just you trying to make us look bad in your response ? Also you accused us of being rude , again you have not said who , again trying to justify your response. Please just accept you were rude to us and didn’t...
