This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The room was filthy, poorly maintained, and clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly before our arrival. Dirt, dust, and grime were everywhere – it felt unhygienic and frankly unsafe.
Even worse, our room was located in what was clearly marked as a fire exit, meaning it should never have been used as a guest room in the first place. This is not only irresponsible but a serious fire code violation and a safety hazard. Guests are not supposed to sleep behind doors that must remain unlocked for emergency egress. Yet this was where we were expected to stay, with a lock on the door and no explanation.
The staff were indifferent and unhelpful, showing no concern about the condition of the room or the obvious safety issues. No apology, no offer to move us, no basic customer service.
This hotel should be investigated by local health and fire authorities. I strongly advise others to stay away until it is brought up to safe, habitable standards.
The toilet seat was loose and represents safety hazard. Additionaly the toilet running all the time - we reported this to the management and they did not seem to...
Read moreWhilst the food was good and reasonably priced, the drinks were extortionate at £11 for 2 pints of diet coke. We had a dog so was sent to the back bar in which there were several oversized tables for the space. It was quite dark and chilly and we had to direct a few people to the toilets as the door wasn't obvious. Our food took quite a while, which in itself isn't too much of a biggy but some communication would have been helpful, particularly as the bar was left unstaffed for quite a long time on numerous occasions and we began to wonder if the kitchen was still operating. Signs indicating where the dog friendly tables were located (we settled in the front bar then was told to move after we'd got our drinks) and smaller tables in the back bar would provide more room. We wouldn't recommend based purely on the lack of communication when the food was delayed and mainly due to the drinks cost. A...
Read moreI found this to be the best pub in town. So many pubs in this town have had the atmosphere ripped out of them and it's interesting to see which pubs and even which bars in which pubs are most occupied ... it says a lot. Modern decor rarely works in ancient pubs. It so easily looks fake and souless. And then few people gravitate there! We went back to this front bar in the Fountain because it has kept the real atmosphere of the original pub. It felt cosy and welcoming and the staff and landlord were friendly the food was fantastic. Whist I paid a bit more than I usually expect I a pub for my fish stew oh my goodness it was worth it! The shell fish and seafood in it were generous and delicious! I'd definitely go back....none of the pretencious nonsense you get in some pubs with chips in wire baskets or cups. Good home cooked food on a bloody...
