I have never visited before and travelled nearly 3 hours to see the Vivian Maier Anthology Exhibition. To be honest I was dreading, having building up my hopes, being let down. I need not have worried. This was the best photography exhibition I have been to and I have been to a few. Getting here was an easy drive from the South West and parking virtually outside was easy. I had purchased my entry ticket for 11am before hand and arrived a fe minutes early. No problems. Nice clean toilets before after a hot drive and the exhibition space was wonderfully cool, airy and well displayed. One of the guides saw me bent down trying to read the text with the images (my one gripe, I have no idea why the details were at knee level!) Guide when and got me a booklet in large print that gave all the details. Such was my interest I needed a break to reflect so was able to go out and use the coffee shop (nice clean coffee shop with friendly staff) before returning to exhibition. There is no limit on your time and I took hours to see, explore and reflect upon the display. All staff were super friendly and helpful. The venue is excellent and airy and the gift shop sold books relative to the exhibition subject. A first rate experience for me that I have lots of notes to make when I get home. Thank you to all. Oh added bonus, no problem taking photos...
Read moreThis is a great local gallery that features a different exhibition every few months. I saw the MK Calling exhibition by various local art groups. I found it really uplifting and interesting to see so many different perspectives, especially the touchable works by visually impaired artists. Highly recommended. If you live locally you can go in for £1!
From the gallery website: "Over the past year, MK Gallery has been collaborating with learners from: MK SNAP, a Milton Keynes-based training provider for learning-disabled adults; The Visually Impaired People (VIP) Group, a group of friends living with sight loss in the local area who have met through different local support organisations; Unknown Collective, a group of under-26-year-old creatives who have previously engaged with MK Gallery’s programme; Members of the Middle Eastern Cultural Group, a platform which provides social activities and language tuition to people from Middle Eastern communities living in Milton Keynes; and adults from Q:Alliance, a registered charity that provides support, information, and empowerment for the LGBTQ+ community in Milton Keynes and...
Read moreIt was a wet and windy morning and we needed a good space to keep our youngest happy and have a coffee whilst we we were out doing some errands in CMK.
The Cafe/Bar at MK Gallery is excellent. There is lots of room. It’s airy and light with some funky fittings and colours giving it that expected gallery feel to it. The staff were so friendly and the coffee and cake was very good. They do a hot food menu daily so check that out. We also noticed they had a selection of beers from local independent breweries which was great to see.
For mums and dads with little ones, they have high chairs which is good to know if you are looking for a space to go for an hour or so - we packed a sticker book, small toy cars and a puzzle for our little one.
Opening times for the Cafe/Bar: Wednesday, Thursday & Sunday 10am-5pm | Tuesday, Friday & Saturday 10am-7.30pm.
It’s great to know there is an independent cafe close to the shopping centre. Do try them out when you...
