A first for me as far as virtual reality and headsets go, and this place really does it well! I arrived and was greeted by the friendly staff there, who got me set up to start my 1 hour VR arena session, where I got to be transported under the ocean and had a whale swim past me directly in front! I just had to look up and a swarm of stingrays were swimming above me. Truly a magical experience!
On to the games in the VR arena, where I shot bows and arrows at monsters trying to breach my defence of my village, and then threw stones at houses to knock them down, this time as the attacker myself! I won't spoil it by telling any more, as there were a wide range of experiences and games to select on the menu, and I gave quite a few a go.
Then to the VR sphere, which by far was the most intense! These egg shaped cups you're sat in are very comfy and there are two handle bars to hold on to. I did the Giant Swing and boy was my stomach doing somersaults! It felt just like being on an actual theme park ride - amazing! Again, lots to choose from and I opted for this one - glad I did!
Finally I tried out the 5D cinema, where you could choose a film of your choice. Too much of a wimp to go for a horror, I opted for the Amazon rollercoaster. Transported through the Jungle, greeted by many tropical birds along the way - and feeling the wind literally blow through my hair and face as I whizzed round. I even got sprinkled with water as I went through the river in one section!
Many nice drinks and snacks to choose from and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. I would 100% recommend it as an experience!...
Read moreThey offer nothing but rude customer service. As you can see from the other reviews, their machine is faulty. We, too, had to wait for 30 minutes to get the machine to work during a 60 minute play session. They said they added 20 minutes to make up for it, but we were never informed at the time, thus cannot confirm. After the staff left, we still had issues with audio and game loading, which at that point, was ridiculous. Connor, the supervisor, was made aware of the situation and he denied all the problems we had regarding the machine. His response was ‘Nope. You had no problem.’ He ignored us as he was staring into his computer screen when we were speaking to him, and got very defensive and rude. I never got an apology for his rude behaviour nor from his manager.
I only gave a call once after our talk on the day about the refund, in which to follow up on the apology that the manager promised to give me by the end of the week. The staff said no manager was available at the time. And at no point, another human being staring at the screen with a bad attitude when the other party is speaking to them is acceptable nor polite, regardless of the times or the length of time. Vertigo VR knows that if they asked a member of their staff that their supervisor was being extremely rude. Cctvs do not show the expressions or the exact words Connor said/shown us at the time, which is why it cannot be used as evidence to claim that they care. If Vertigo VR really cared about equality, instead of all this talk on a big platform, they could have given an apology that they promised me two weeks ago...
Read moreSphere and cinema were pretty good, VR side not so much, was looking at multi player with my husband (he's good at this stuff, I'm not so need his help) sound between us was poor, mine crashed, I lost about 10-15 mins game time waiting for reset before being moved. Was told time would be added on which it was not, however I couldn't re link to my husband so was just struggling with no guidance, so i came off early anyway. staff didnt ask why i came off early, something i would think they would do to make sure they check for any issues or improve experience for others? When going through controls, we were told very basic (not about the side pulse controls) and also whilst being moved due to the clud error, i had to stand awkwardly while the staff had a little debate about where to move me, and one staff member (albeit lightly) bearting another for not checking if the new space was available, leaving me feeling like an inconvenience. I've done a VR escape room before so perhaps expected too much as that was fantastic and was really supported by staff when struggling but didnt really feel this here at all. Asked husband afterwards (as he is more used to VR) and he also found the experience and game selection lacking. Would not go back unfortunately, very disappointing for a...
