We visited (2 of us) at 1230 on a Sunday and were hugely disappointed with the following:
It took at least 3 minutes for us to be greeted and seated, despite there only being 2 other tables seated at the time (another couple and a larger table of 4 adults and 4 kids) and 2 members of staff manning the bar/waiting.
Although table water and nachos were served within ten minutes (this was a nice touch), upon serving there was no offer to take a food or drink order; by this time it would have been evident we were ready as we had closed the menus.
When our food and drinks order was eventually taken, some 20 minutes into our visit, a few minutes later the waitress returned and told us the two drinks we ordered (Camden Hells and Mahou) were unavailable, together with all other lagers on tap bar one we had never heard of. It took about a further 10 minutes to be served our drinks.
Food was served an hour after we initially entered (1330), and there was no offer of sauces at the time of serving and no check-back whilst we were eating.
Whilst the food (Cuban sandwich and pulled pork sandwich) was tasty, the fries were cold and overcooked; like when visiting a kebab shop where it seemed they had been standing cooling for ages before being briefly re-fried. The sandwiches were a little on the dry side, despite being flavorsome, but no sauces were available and no staff were available to ask for sauces.
The table wasn't cleared, so after 10 minutes my partner went and settled the bill at the bar.
This place has so much potential, the food and drinks (we had 2-4-1 cocktails in the end) were reasonably priced, despite the snail-paced service, the staff were friendly, the decor was really nice. We'd potentially return for cocktails, but if they can't keep up with orders from 3 tables, I dread to think what service is like...
Read moreThe atmosphere and setting were good. Live trio playing typical 'tourist spain' sounds. Place became very busy after 6.30pm. We had booked for a quick, pre-theatre meal for 5.15, arriving at just after 5 pm. Drinks came quickly and were good; standard Daiquiris. Placed food order for tapas at 5.25pm. Nothing had arrived by 6.15pm! Chased down waiter who said had lots of tickets but would enquire of kitchen. The thing is, the place was practically empty when we ordered, and tapas should be quick. A few minutes later, they arrived with an apology for the delay.
Sadly, the food had clearly been sitting at the pass for some time and was barely warm. The empanadas had been cremated, the filling of one burnt to carbon! The beef on another dish was dried up and tough enough to make boots. The sourdough bread was part way to making toast or breadcrumbs.
Fortunately, the prawns were OK, though the garlic had long lost its flavour. The pulled pork Quesidilla's were the most edible, albeit too cold. The chicken skewers were likewise dried up, cold, and flavourless.
Spanish, Mexican and I suppose Cuban food such as tapas, in my experience, are quick simple and really tasty. It must take real incompetence to deliver what was put before us. Yes, the bill was adjusted, but that took two efforts, and it felt like the attitude was "yeah, whatever".
Couldn't wait to leave. The whole experience was too long and too sad. Worse, we were too late getting to the theatre for pre-show recovery drink!
I have no photos of the food. It only occurred to me too late to take them. Needless to say we won't be back, but I think they will not...
Read moreBooked a table for 2, me and my wife for Valentine’s Day. That’s where the good part ends! No one came to take our drinks order. We waited for more than 10min and then ordered at the bar. Food order was taken 15min later. Food arrived 45min later. Missed 2 items off the list. We asked for another table because the one we were at was cold. Got told all other tables are reserved…we were there from 6.45pm to 8.30pm, none of the other tables had any diners on them during that time! We contested this fact and then got moved to a warmer table. Food was already late, missed 2 items and then the paella was not cooked! We paid for what we ate and drank, we didn’t finish our drinks because we couldn’t stand to stay there for longer as I would have ended up losing my temper and that would have further ruined an already ruined evening. Thanks Revolucion, you have made this a memorable V day for us and I’ll make sure everyone knows how good you are at screwing up celebrations for people! And stop making excuses that there was only 1 cook…you should have not taken bookings in the first place if that was the case. Poor poor management!
EDIT: @Matthew, your standard weak response is quite disappointing on its own. You need to learn about negotiation and dispute resolution is a customer service setting. You can see other reviews about the same experience other diners have had which is similar to ours. No, we won't be coming back to Revolucion unless you commit in writing to the changes...
