Julie & Sarah are amazing hotel hosts and landlady's! Having lived local I used to be a regular at the pub which has a great mixture of regular entertainment. Now I have moved out of the area, I stayed in one of their wonderful rooms when visiting. So tastefully decorated, super comfortable and a delight to stay in! Sorry, I took photos just before I left so the bed had been made by me. Really recommend this place for a drink and or a stay over when in the area

Stayed overnight here after going to a comedy bar. Staff seemed lovely on check in. The room was very clean, bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious. The bath was huge too and enough to fit 2 people in of wanting to share with a bottle of wine lol. Come with towels, iron, hair dryer, tea coffee families with biscuits. Everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Lovely building and decor very nice. Think we may have just been unlucky when we visiting with a few of the hand pulls off at the time. Go to the sister pub in Leek (The Fountain) and their selection is always strong. Beer was a wincle offering and was a little bland - not the pubs fault though and was kept well! Hopefully a few more beers on next time!

My boyfriend and I have just been into this pub for a drink. We are not from the area but were attracted to the little pub on the corner due to its appearance. We went in, ordered 2 alcoholic drinks and proceeded to sit down. We asked at the bar if he had any energy drinks (odd question and not usually my thing but I was feeling incredibly ill and run down and thought a little vodka and something would perk me up). I had a can of Monster in the car. We bought a beer and a straight vodka but anything fruity to put with it wasn’t an option so I added a little of the Monster to my drink. We sat enjoying our drinks until the landlord came over and proceeded to tell us bringing our own drinks in was not allowed. My boyfriend immediately apologised but before we had chance to even explain how the situation had come about he shouted across the pub that we were rude and it was illegal. We apologised again. He then shouted to us that it wasn’t just illegal but we were ‘taking the piss’. We had also discussed this at the bar that we would add the Monster, he said nothing. We didn’t think it was an issue. So the punishment didn’t really fit the crime. To be spoken to in such a fashion is incredibly rude and to be barrated from across the other side of the pub in front of other customers was quite frankly just humiliating. You got our custom, our money, we would have stayed there for the night but we were made to feel unwelcome and so we left. Was the extra £1 for the ‘alternative redbull’ really more important than us continuing to pay for TWO alcoholic drinks for the rest of the night. Disgusting, uncalled for behaviour. They said they had rooms available too.. I dread to think what you could get berrated and sworn at for if...

I've stayed here twice between October 2018 to June 2019.||||The room I had was a double bed, en suite with a nice bath, TV and tea making facilities. Guests get given a key to the back door so you don't have to go through the pub/bar when you go in and out, which is super handy when you want to leave early in the morning because the pub is shut or when you go off for dinner as they don't serve food.||||The place is clearly a local favourite and is always busy. People who work there and visit there are generally very friendly. ||||The place is clean and everything is topped up if you stay more than one night and hang the service card out. ||||The first time I stayed, the noise level was immense and didn't end till past midnight. However, during my June visit, this has changed and the noise/music was either stopped or much quieter after 11.30pm which, I think, for a pub, is acceptable.||||Considering how much the other hotels around the area charge, this is by far the best one. A short walk and you are in town which connects you to all the public transports and restaurants. There are some restaurants within 5mins walk, too. You are also allowed to bring food in and eat in the room. ||||Thanks for a...
