On the whole, I've found that the staff are terrifically friendly, though the reception area seems to have more security than most banks these days. Quite why they need to be sat behind a glass screen is beyond me. The lack of catering facilities in this place is hugely disappointing. I had to schlep over to the nearby tennis centre for a coffee. It's a shame because I seem to be spending a fair amount of time at this venue at the moment. My teenage daughter cycles on the track. And when she's here, I'm here. For hours. And I'd happily spend money just to relieve the boredom of waiting for her next race. But the only option appears to be vending machines. On the upside, the track centre of relatively easy to get to and there's loads of seating with a great view of the track. On the downside there's no natural light. My daughter tells me the track is fast and that they usually get the temperature right. There's a fair amount of parking at the venue though it gets busy when competitions are on. But no one seems to pay much attention to the creative parking that then results. I'll have to be back at this venue again. It'll still have no catering facilities. But the staff will probably...
Read moreBeen a user and member for nearly nine years. Travelled around the block a few times and from my past experiences I have no complaints about Newport Leisure. The staff's willingness to assist, (even the referral team will help non referred users) their knowledge, politeness and professionalism. Took a look at the new gym in tennis center, impressive. But unless the music volume comes down you won't be seeing me there 🥺 An inside bike parking area would encourage bike use I can understand the changing rooms etc being closed but the "in gym" security lockers ! See photo. People, especially senior ones forget to pick things up. Leaving valuables in car, no. Leaving phone at home, no chance even for this 72 year old. Simply by supplying a disposable food bag would solve the contract problem Unfortunately the email I sent last Monday 17th August regarding the security lockers and food bags remains unanswered. I have had two missed calls from Newport Leisure. Usually a sign no record is wanted of the response....
Read moreI purchased vouchers for the velodrome taster sessions for various people for Xmas and only on completion of purchase do you find out that the track sessions are only available on a Monday 4-5pm and a Wednesday 5-6pm. There was no indication that there were such limited sessions on the website. When I phoned to ask if there were going to be sessions at the weekend so my friends and family could actually use their vouchers I was told that there probably would be but they couldn't guarantee it. When I then asked for a refund because I felt I had been mis-sold they said they wouldn't provide a refund. Extremely disappointed by this unprofessional service. I was looking forward to recommending the velodrome to my fellow cyclists, unfortunately I've now I had to tell them all to avoid this velodrome...
