Was with my niece in Norwich on a lovely, sunny afternoon. Saw this on Google and thought we'd go here for a spot of lunch by now around 4 pm. How wrong were we ! First, the male staff member that was behind the bar seemed to ignore me when serving and served another customer 1st .( There were only 3 of us at the bar ) he did ask the other 2, who was 1st, and despite me trying to say I was 1st, he ignored me . When he did, eventually realise ,the lady he served apologised to me ,he did not and gave me a gormless look. I ordered our drinks and asked for a menu .As he bent down behind the bar, he replied , I had sort of peer over, as i hadn't heard a word he'd said. He then informed me that they didn't do "walk-ins " as it was too busy for the chef . Sorry what !! There was plenty of seating inside and out . Nowhere did it say on anything I read about the place, did it say please pre book . I've been to much busier places and never have I had to pre book . Wait for a table perhaps ,or be told there my be a delay as it's busy, but never "it's too busy for the chef " Despite it looking like a nice pub ,I'll...

The Watergate which was built for a canal to take the Caen stone up to the nearby Norwich Cathedral. It was at one time used as a ferry to ferry Norwich City fans over the river Wensum when they played at the Nest on Rosary Road, before they moved to Carrow Road stadium in 1935. Between early June and the end of September, the girl guide room over the arch is open for...

Lovely spot to visit if you enjoy feeding birds. Take some proper duck food. They love it. Plain oats and sunflower seed hearts go down a treat too. All much better for them than bread and crisps!

Swans are a common sight here, along with mallards. Egyptian geese are frequent visitors and greylags show up from time to time. If you're lucky you may spot moorhens or...

A picturesque 15th century water gate along Norwich's riverside walk. There are plenty of public benches nearby and the flint structure is very photogenic. The building isn't usually open to the public, but I've known it occasionally host a cafe during the summer season. Both the Norman French cathedral and Cow Tower lie nearby.
