General Service Complaint & Short Review On the 5th of August, 2016, my friends had gathered to go and see the new "Suicide Squad" film on opening day at this particular Vue cinema. We had bought our tickets early and was well aware that they would ask for ID, clearly noticeable on the website and even on our tickets. The confusing thing about this was that staff at the counter didn't ask for any.
When we returned, we presented our tickets to a fairly reasonable gentleman before he asked us to present photographic ID. Only two of us had brought any sort of ID with us and the others (including myself) were denied. My two main issues here was the fact that we were sold tickets before being asked to present ID and that we were obviously old enough to see the film.
Thankfully, we refunded our tickets, our money successfully returned and went to watch the movie elsewhere. I must impress upon the seriously falling standards from the staff at this particular cinema. The same exact thing did not just happen to us that day, with many other people also being denied; this has led me to believe that this Vue is severely understaffed and in need of proper management; it's completely inadequate for a mainstream chain cinema.
Another strange thing from this situation is that from a business standpoint, this was totally illogical. It was opening day for a blockbuster and you should expect a lot of people to go and see it, but it seems they have lost out on getting profit because they have lost valuable customers who will refuse to return due to their poor experience.
Nevertheless, everything else is little to talk about: prices, both in terms of tickets and confectionery are overpriced; albeit plenty of reasonable showtimes, quality screens and audio, these do little to impact an overall lack of significant quality over other cinemas in Norwich. I implore you to take your money and spend it at better cinemas such as Cinema City, Hollywood and Odeon. Until improvement, I definitely do not...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I went to see the new Superman movie today, apart from the air conditioning being broken on a 30 degree day it was a good movie experience. The food service before the movie was absolutely fine and went really smoothly, even when scanning our tickets. I would give this a 2 star but hoping a 1 star might get some more attention. There was a lady working at the ticket stand when we left the movie and I have had previous experiences with her where she has been obnoxious and patronising. She is always shouting at people and my boyfriend even overheard her complaining loudly about customers to other customers. We came out of the movie ready to throw our food in the bin. Firstly, we were debating what to throw away and she just watched us do it which was very uncomfortable. Then she proceeded to tell us that the tango ice blast cup we had was refillable which we didn’t ask for. We went to go and fill it back up, but she followed us over and told us off ridiculously loudly and rudely as if both of us must’ve misheard her and it was in fact not refillable. This was just so embarrassing for us and definitely not how we wanted to end our positive experience. I really hope this gets some attention because I have always had awful experiences with her. Unfortunately, I do not have a name but hope to find out soon, she had a very short hair cut, a loud screechy voice and glasses I think. I want to finish this off by saying I hope I never see her again as she should absolutely not be working on a face to face basis...
Read moreSo we went to go and see SpaceJam this afternoon - first time in the last year in a potentially busier place - quite anxious around Covid. Unfortunately, a group of 3 were in our pre-booked seats that I'd sorted out yesterday.
Lady pretended to be unaware she was on row H, claiming she thought it was K (oh dear, only 3 rows out as a 'mistake'). She's also saying this as the H is right beside her thigh. I tried to politely explain that we were just looking to follow the expectations and rules around allocated seating - she wasn't going to shift - and was just plain rude and ignorant.
That particular part isn't the establishments fault of course but I will write to them about the potential need to sadly manage some people at this current time. It's a shame. Perhaps not enough staff - I only saw one poor soul on the front seeing to tickets on the way in.
Place is alright though, it is clean, and the seats are comfortable, just fellow customers which sometimes let a place down. It does set the tone for a visit when it starts off the way it did. I shouldn't have been overly surprised with seat switchers at Vue, it's not uncommon. I was more disappointed and angry at the lack of thought around why they may have said stick to your seats. But it is within a businesses power to enforce it.
Mcdonalds on the other hand, same afternoon, no nonsense - lady at the door giving clear direction and walking you in, so it can be done, just needs the hand in the pocket and to take...
