What a lovely little beach! Large car park with plenty of disabled parking bays and only a short walk along the public footpath to reach the access to the beach.this access is a few steps so not good for wheelchair users (I don’t know if there are any other places to access the beach). Dogs are allowed on to the beach so was busy with families. Lovely clean beach and water. But I have had to remove a star from my review for 2 reasons which made my heart sink, firstly at the back of the beach by the steps on the way out there was an area of dog poo , I could not understand why those dog owners failed to pick up after there dog, literally on the way out where there is a dog bin!' Secondly! I was very concerned to see that there was a rather large pipe running down the beach and into the water!!! Considering the clear water and clean beach I am hoping that it was not a...

Mount Batten beach is a lovely spot for a relaxing day out. The views are stunning, especially if you like to see boats. The parking is easy and free, as long as you don't mind walking a bit. The beach itself is not very sandy but rather gravelly. Just be careful not to pick up any asbestos, as there are signs warning you of its presence. You might also find some sea glass, which is a nice souvenir. There is a cafe nearby, but it closes early, so bring your own snacks and drinks. The only downside is that there is no wheelchair access to the beach that i could see, which is a shame. Overall, I enjoyed my visit to Mount Batten beach and would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice relaxed...

Used to live close by in Turnchapel. Always thought this rocky-stony beach was underused. Its now becoming more frequented by families. Access is OK with decent parking (free). The steps are steep for anyone who has mobility problems and access to the water is partly restricted by rocks. South facing with good views across the sound. Plenty of boatyards adjacent and some cafes/shops and art businesses beginning to establish themselves. Good pubs in Turnchapel and at Mountbatten all walkable, as is the Mountbatten breakwater. Its popular with canoeists. Can get impressively stormy in winter. As you can see from the pic -...

There is good parking available either on street or in a car park with a café nearby. There are steps down to the beach so it's not accessible for wheelchair users. Some people do swim from here but it's more of a dog walking and rock pooling beach. It was well used, despite being a weekday, with mostly dog walkers, but it was also half term. I love the fact it's not a commercial beach with loads of shops so it's really for people who want to go to the beach rather than spend lots of money. The sign about asbestos at the top of the steps worries some people but it's a really safe beach otherwise.
