Cactus Moon Coffee — Restaurant in Rother

Quite disappointed with our visit today.

The place has its own character, which may not be to everyone's liking and I can accept that. It has a bohemian feel, with the painting of the walls and plant sales.

First thing I noticed was how dirty the floor was under our table. Not sure what was there, but it was crunchy and the table was really sticky, so much so that we felt the need to wipe it ourselves. Our drinks arrived and neither were hot. Nicely presented in glasses rather than cups and maybe that's why they were cool. No handle to pick the drink up with.

My hot chocolate wasn't great either, sugary sweet, with little chocolate taste, but a nice pattern on the top. I would have preferred a better drink to be frank. My wifes coffe was similarly cool and decidedly uninspiring. Service was friendly though.

I was a bit unhappy to see the fresh milk just standing on a stool out of the fridge behind the counter. It was there when we ordered and still there when I went to the toilet a good while later.

I won't go back. It should have had clean floors and tables as it wasn't busy and the drinks were...

Massive cup of tea . Tasty. Get a little jug of milk to. The cakes look good. Presented in glass cake stands. Rolls are big . Bit wet at bottom but great flavour in the bread.  I think they are pre prepared and so limited to how many they have available. Bagel. Cheese not melted was warm . No butter. Tasty mustard and pastrami inside.  No sandwich options. Plants and alcohol on sale inside. It's a really nice environment.  Alot in a small space but plenty of seating. Dog food and treats Brownie looked so good. A kinder one. It was dry, the topping was nice. Food stops at 3pm The plastic chairs are not sturdy. The skirting boards need cleaning. I love this cafe and regularly visit it, especially if I can introduce it to someone new. Food is generally good, especially the cakes. Coffee is very good. The chai latte, which is usually my favourite drink, is a bit hit and miss. I had one when I last visited, and it was very bitty and had too much clove for my tastes. A lovely atmosphere, makes you feel welcome and warm. The plants make it feel lovely and exotic.
