Gannets not Just Ribs — Restaurant in Sefton

Gannets are really local to me and have been meaning to try them for ages since receiving a menu through the door. We finally got round to giving them a go the other week and again just last night and the food is that good I'm here now to tell you, if you haven't been yet, you need to try them! Admittedly I've only tried one thing off the menu, I had the rib tickler meal both times. Let me tell you, you need a good appetite as the portion is very generous! I'm not normally impressed with a burger, don't find them particularly inspiring or exciting but oh my god, this burger topped with brisket is just so tasty it really needs to be experienced! The fries are also exceptional, cooked to perfection (in my opinion) and again a very generous portion. If the food itself isn't enough for a repeat visit, the guys who run the place are all friendly and chatty too which makes the whole experience a whole lot better. My partner had the wrapped brisket which she thoroughly enjoyed but if you are after an exceptional burger experience then I personally have had no better than the rib tickler, ever...and I'm in my 50's! Ordered for the first time the other night. And WOW. It’s all I can say to describe the food and service.

I ordered the Gannets burger will all the trimmings. Came with chips and a drink and I couldn’t argue with the price. The burger was absolutely on point and more. I would say this is the best burger I’ve ever had. Unfortunately due to my own mistake, the fries were cold when I got home however, they still tasted pretty great so I can’t wait to find out how they taste hot next time.

I also ordered the chicken tenders which were great. Perfectly paired with Ranch dipping sauces. We also wanted to try the mac and cheese and I think that’s the best I’ve ever had 😀 My daughter had a kids chicken nugget meal and I was pleased it was actual chicken rather than the generic McDonalds nuggets.

Business is amazing, food is great, the lads are friendly and this is a credit to Southport.

My daughter has been pestering me to go here after her and her friends went for the first time last week and so we decided to try it tonight. I can honestly say that it’s one of the nicest takeaways I’ve had in a very long time!... I had the brisket wrap and can really recommend. It sounds corny but it does just melt in your mouth. The portions were on the larger side which is not bad when you consider the quality of the food. My daughters had the pulled pork and my Dad had the burger and brisket (can’t remember the names of them) and obviously I tried them all 🥴..! All were incredibly tasty but I think I’m going for the pulled pork next visit!! ! The price is about right considering the portion size and the food quality. Very clean place and the staff were really welcoming and friendly too. I’d say it’s a ‘cut above’...
