Whatever time of year Shanklin Beach has something to deliver. In early spring the weather can be unkind and on our visit in late March it could have been better, We were still able to walk along the promenade but a venture onto the sand was deferred for another day. There is a 'penny' arcade and crazy golf under cover. A fish & chip restaurant is attached as is Toppings - the place for an ice cream with an outstanding choice of flavours. Except for extreme inclement weather the two outside crazy golf circuits were open - pirate & dinosaur themes. Number of hostelries along the prom offer good food at a reasonable price. We chose the Steamer Inn - warm inside and food came quickly. Don't be deterred by adverse weather. We enjoyed our visit.

This is a wonderful beach. It is nice and mostly sandy especially close to Hope Road Long Stay Car Park. When the tide is in, it will cover almost the whole beach with exception of 1 meter in some places and there will be very small part left of the beach uncovered by the tide close to the car park mentioned above. The waves can be very big here so you will have fun bringing a bodyboard. There are also 2 places that rent canoes for £15 per 1h. We visited also Sandown Beach and this one has much better atmosphere and just better vibe overall. There is lots to do around- cafes, restaurants, golf and most of all the beach itself. The shop near Arcade offers anything you could possibly need for beach, even beach shoes.

Really great seafront day out. Loads to do here. The pirate cove and dinosaur golf is ace. They have really put the effort into each course and the decoration on both is top notch. Waterfall encased caves pirate ships, dinosaurs everywhere, and the holes are pretty good too. There is a mini adventure park for kids with go karts, high bounce, zorbing and loads more. The arcade has an I door golf course too as well as an assortment of games, machines, arcades and what not. You have toppings ice cream shop too selling some wicked ice creams. There are cafes, gift shops, beach bars and everything youd expect. Was actually really impressed by it all, changed a lot from when I loved on the island!

Beautiful walk. Huge crazy golf with a pirate theme and dinosaur theme. Lovely pub called The Steamer Inn where the food is amazing. Lovely staff and very helpful. You can walk along the beach front all the way to the run down, derelict town of Sandown where most of the sea front hotels are boarded up, smashed windows or no roofs on are. Shops are run down and dated. Isle of Wight is slowly becoming less attractive. If its broke they tape it up, if its run down they put council railings around it. Building new housing estates and hotels on farmland and next to derelict buildings completely ignoring the state of unused, run down properties. It will be a very long time be we return back.

Love shanklin beach, tend to return here every three years with our daughters and elderly mother. With suitable beach shoes it's easy to overcome beach stones for a smashing day on the beach. Adequately placed ice cream shops and souvenir shops , nice to see a new eatery by hope car park....... as the chip shop by the atm amusements, despite staff being friendly is tasteless and bland. The only thing that hasn't changed are the toilets - come on iow council please get all these updated along with a tap to swill feet by steps to the beach. Its a great place but minor detail is all it takes to make a lovely seaside.

Good beach .. can be maintained much better ...there are many Ice cream shops next to beach ... They have very nice varieties ... We had almost 4-5 varieties as it was very sunny when we went ... Ice cream next to the beach is very nice... We really have to try this if we are there ... There is also Jurassic isle it's good we didn't do any activities in that one but we had look around the complete place .... Parking was not too costly and had options starting from 30 mins ... We just had a quick visit for 2 hours ...there were many people in the beach having barbecue and enjoying the evening ...
