Love this park but do miss the boating lake that used to be here (removed from near the tennis courts/behind the golf shop years ago!) There used to be a couple of small play areas next to the path at the bottom of the park which were also removed years ago(can still see where they were though) which were good for people with prams as the hill is steep! The playground at the top of the park is greatly improved with modern equipment. There used to be 2 rocking horse see-saw like peices of equipment which were brilliant fun but probably don't meet modern health and safety regulations (lots of kids wacked their chins on these, only know of one still existing but not going to say where!!) Kids don't have anywhere near as much fun or risks to take as we did!! There is still what appears to be a run-down shelter next to the playground which always appeared to have sand or gravel in it. But no one ever knew what it was for! There used to be a BMX track to the side of the path as you went up the hill, again this has vanished and removed challenges (or risks) for children. Used to be brilliant for sledging in snowy winters when I was growing up. But don't often get enough snow for this now. Also used to have a bonfire and fireworks here each year before Don Valley Bowl was opened. The petrified tree which is now in the botanical gardens was moved there from this park, surprised that no one has tried to move the historical (non-functioning!) water...
Read moreBeautiful park for a walk, I did around 2 miles but you could definitely circuit it a few more times and get more in. It’s a slight hill up to the playground, that is enclosed by a fence to keep dogs out and then the rest of the park is dog friendly. There a beautiful old manor that used to be a cafe, it seems like it’s closed now and the nearby golf course has purchased it. There’s a cricket pitch and tennis court available, if you’re looking for something more to do. I remember coming to this park as a child and haven’t been here for a few years, it’s a shame that it isn’t what it used to be and I was sad to see the greyhound she’d knocked down. However, that fantastic view still remains over the hill of Sheffield. It’s a lovely park and...
Read moreHigh Hazel's Park Sheffield 9. We use this park at least once a week to walk the 🐕s. They love the top end were there's lots of green space and trees to sniff round. The paths are hard surfaces good for little doggy nails, but towards the bottom of the park they are quite steep. Hence the name High Hazel's. Good play area for children and its nice to see that the pot holes in the car park are getting sorted out. Downside; entrance to the park is through an industrial estate and at times can be very difficult to manoeuvre past the...
