Came here for a meal and a drink with a work colleague here last night. This was the first time I have visited it since the days of the Old Monk. I like the place. It has a bit of a Bavarian Bierkeller theme going on, with lines of people sitting at long wooden tables. But there are also tables for two and booths. Despite the fact it was a Wednesday tea time, the place was busy, so we got the last available table. But clearly, reserving a table is not a problem. There are some interesting beers on offer. Bar and food staff were all friendly, helpful, and relaxed, and the service was prompt for beers and food delivery. The food was very nice, and most importantly, filling! What I liked was the fact that the quantities were generous and it was good value for money. Our only problem on this occasion was that we were sat eating at a table for two next to a space which was used as a cut through for people walking past. This was due to the restrictive positions of the long tables, and these tables not having any gaps in between. This meant that people were often pushing past us to get from one end to another, and probably explains why this was the last remaining table. Like I say though, next time I will book ahead, and avoid that table. But yes on balance, great place, and worth visiting.
