Excellent experience at Miller & Carter Sheffield City Centre.
We booked as a couple, a week in advance as last time we tried to eat here they were fully booked. We arrived early but that was no problem as our table downstairs was ready for us.
Our waitress introduced herself and gave us our menus and came back a couple of minutes later for our drinks order, and soon returned with our drinks. Asked if we were ready to order our mains,,, we needed some more time so she left us for 5 minutes and came back when we were ready. I ordered the calamari to start and my partner the Cheddar Mushroom from the £35 3 course celebration deal. On ordering the 3 course meal we ordered starter and main and asked if we could order dessert after mains the waitress said, yes no problem. Both starters arrived within 10 minutes, were decent portions and hot. My main was the award winning 16oz ribeye steak cooked as they recommend, it comes with a choice of salad, side and sauce, I had honey and mustard salad, fries and beef dripping sauce. The steak was cooked beautifully, full of flavour and not too tough or fatty just enough for a ribeye, served on the plate is fried onion which was very nice, there was plenty of salad some on the plate and wedge of iceberg lettuce in a bowl with the sauce, fries were nicely cooked with some seasoning, beef dripping sauce was very nice especially with the steak. My partner had the salmon served with a lovely hollandaise sauce which as you can see in the photos looked amazing and it tasted just as good as it looks.
For dessert we shared a Toffee pudding from the celebration meal deal, two spoons provided and was just enough for us both to share after the large meal we had just had.
Service was excellent and friendly we happily paid a tip and reviewed our waitress.
Toilets were spacious and clean. Disabled access is good upstairs,, I think I saw a lift to downstairs. Decore is to a high standard.
It's not a cheap meal, but you won't go away feeling cheated out of your...
Read moreWe booked a table for 7:45pm, arrived at 7:40, but had to sit at the bar for 20 minutes as our table wasn't ready. After sitting down it took quite a while for us to be asked for our drinks orders, but when they finally came to us, we ordered our food and drinks together as it was part of a deal. The food arrived with: The wrong sides, the wrong butter and the wrong sauce for both me and my partners meals. We told them when they were bringing the fries over that we did not order fries, so they went back to swap them for our actual sides. After they brought them back, they brought out our steak with the wrong sauce and wrong butter on both.. They apologised again and went to fetch our actual orders. Between all of this, the waitress had brought our cocktails over (these were correct) and i asked her if she could bring some tap water over for the table as well. To which she said she would. Moments passed but that water never arrived. I asked our main server later where it was as we'd asked someone else and she apologised, at this time we also asked for the bill as we were in a hurry and already behind schedule as we were seated late.
She brought back the water, but no bill... so i asked again. It was brought over but we had to wait for her to come back to pay with card of course. Overall, the food is great, even if you don't get what you ordered. But the service that night was truly shocking. The waitress spoke so fast that it was often very hard to understand and made everything seem very rushed, which is why so many mistakes must have been made. Probably wont go again to the Sheffield branch unless...
Read moreCame here for my boyfriends birthday. We usually go to the one at centertainment, but thought we would try the new one in town centre and go for drinks in town after our meal. For a Friday night the restaurant was fairly quiet, which was nice. The staff were very friendly and it was good service. We had the bread board for starters which I really like bread and oil, but there was too much balsamic in the oil for me, I like a simple olive oil. The beef dripping butter though that came with was very delicious, and very strong in garlic. Delicious. I had a half rack of ribs which was 4 ribs. I was given a steak knife but I didn't need it at all. I was fully expecting to pick up the ribs to eat them, but the meat just fell off the bone. I scraped it all off the bone easily and ate the meat which was in a lovely sweet sauce. We also had the t bone steak for the first time and had it recommended which was medium rare. This was a very large steak so good value for money as there was no need for dessert after that. I had a dessert after my ribs and got the creme brulee. There's a reason this is one of the lower calorie options for dessert because there was hardly anything there. Tasty but so small. The dessert came in a fairly big little pan, but the width of the creme brulee was the same as a £1 coin. Overall we enjoyed our experience and would recommend coming back and will come back in the future. It's not our usual spot for date night etc, more for celebrations due...
