Located in a central area of Stratford upon Avon, Sabai Sabai's decor looks absolutely lovely, as I have come to expect from Thai Restaurants, they have all seem to possess a great sense of style. I loved the light fittings (see photo) and the delicate little candle holders (see video).

All that glitters is not gold, however, and the bump in the road in our experience was the customer service. My quiet group encountered a baffling display from the two waitresses, who seemed uncomfortable explaining their menu: they appeared confused and defensive - to the point of almost being rude - very unusual for a Thai restaurant (see my other reviews).

And then there was the music... Pop music! Loud pop music! Creating, for me, a strange dischord between the nice Thai food and the atmosphere within the restaurant. I wasn't a fan of the music.

Anyhow, we persevered and won the staff over with smiles and pleasantries and overall my group had a nice time.

For me, the food was ok, not the best Thai cooking I've experienced, but certainly not the worst. I had the fried sea bass, but I should have gone for the steamed option - I was anticipating more intense flavours than my dish could offer: the garlic rice was nice though. My chicken wing starter (see photo) was delicious.

Overall, worth a visit: the food wasn't too bad, beware of the pop music and finally, try to take advantage of...

The 2 STARS are for the food only. Staff were friendly & accommodating for our large party, food was nice but service was poor. Upon arrival we were welcomed straight away with a menu & was not approached for drinks until one of us approached them. Drinks service took an hour for 4 drinks, then hen was waiting longer & only received one the whole time she was there. They gave someone the wrong dinner in which they started to eat from then realised it wasn’t their order & gave to someone else (disgusting)!!! A pregnant guest had her dinner missed & didn’t receive her dinner till 15-20 minutes after everyone else. Extremely poor service for the extortionate prices. Even collecting payment staff had no clue & was trying to take duplicate payments by card as their was two of them taking payments. Not a good experience for a party, maybe book if 2 of you & have no later plans as you’ll be sat there a very long time!!!!!! After complaining they did honour the hens meal, to be honest they should of knocked off the 10% charge as our bill...

This place is amazing 😁 we absolutely thoroughly enjoyed it! The food was amazing and the service was impeccable 😊. Meng was by far the best as he was so kind, reassuring and genuine. He even offered to hold our baby whilst we ate so we could have a peaceful meal 🍴. Meng really went out of his way to make us feel welcome and to really give us the best service ever. By far the best Authentic Thai place I have ever tasted 😋. I even got given extra Thai Red 🌶 to really hot 🔥 it up 👆 😊. The sweetcorn fritters are amazing as well as the Pad Kee Mow. You can't get more authentic and more tastier Thai food 🍲 than this.

For all the Halal eaters the chicken and duck is 100% halal as Meng brought out some authentic certificates as soon as we sat down to reassure us that the food was Halal 😊. The chef was Muslim so that gave us the extra reassurance we needed.

Ambience is really nice and inviting and it is really well decorated.

Honestly by far the best authentic Thai place I've ever had in the UK 🇬🇧.

A genuine must try to tickle your...

Great Thai food, all the dishes we had were cooked really well. The food was aromatic, spicy and punhcy and just really well balanced with all those Thai ingredients we know and love with that intensity of flavour. Would highly recommend the crab and prawn cakes as they were delicious and had a good bite to them. The service was mediocre I'm afraid, the staff were a bit slow to get dishes out which was surprising as the restaurant didn't look that full. When the food did come the waiter didn't really know what the dishes were when serving us which isn't the end of world but for one of the more established Thai restaurants in the area would probably want a bit more of an efficient service (could just be because it was a Monday night). The staff themselves were very kind and friendly. Decent prices, a bit more costly than other restaurants but was happy to pay for the quality of the food that we received.
