Prospero Lounge — Restaurant in Stratford-on-Avon

Walked in got a table, asked for table to be cleaned and ordered at the bar, customer service was like ‘cant be bothered with you’ from a lad at the bar… i ordered a kids dessert Brownie and ice cream , for my daughter, i got told ‘have no brownie just ice cream ! ‘… ok order two for cocktail espresso martini…. And a pot of tea … ice cream arrived on table and placed down …. I had to ask again for the table to be cleaned … oh then came back and cleaned with a smelly cloth …. The the espresso martini one sip and didn’t not taste nice and the glass or the mix of drink stunk of off milk … i took the two full glasses back , asked the same lad at the bar if i could change the drinks and explained why… service :cant be bothered and got told sorry cant change , thats how the drinks are cant do anything about it …. I just had to leave the two full glasses at the bar and go , no refund no attempt to resolve and the lad just showed be the bottles used to make the drinks and told me it was me with a preference issue not the cocktail he made … i didnt feel welcomed and obviously wont be returning were not welcomed. Very bad...

Atmosphere is really nice here and I’ve been here for drinks before but came for a birthday meal and were really underwhelmed. They didn’t have certain items to make drinks but no signs anywhere so a bit of disappointment for the birthday girl.

On a Monday you get a free pudding if you buy main or burger. We had our mains which was nice, albeit overpriced. My sister had chicken which was advertised as fried buttermilk, she’s autistic and was put off by the ‘curry taste’ so couldn’t eat her meal.

It took ages for our plates to be cleared and our puddings to be bought out to the point a member of our family had to leave to move the car due to parking. We had to get his pudding to go, but one sundae went untouched due to being left on the pass for so long that the ice cream had all melted and was just topped up with cream. I’m telling you 3/4 of that sundae was cream. Yes, it was technically free but that’s not the point.

We were there two hours, the atmosphere was nice and again, I’d come back for drinks, but I feel like they need to focus on service and organisation especially when having neurodivergent people...

Its a shame that such a beautiful place have such bad client service and very low standard food. Been there with my GF, first of all when we enter no one came and sit us we have to go to the bar and ask...WE. We sit, no table order, only on line or at the bar so I get up and went to order. A very young lady,that was eating in front of the costumers like she never eat for a full month came to our table, not a single world, not an hi or an hello, nothing...she just trow napkin fork and knife on the table and thats it, obviously she never collect nothing from the table even if we had 4 empty glasses on it. Food arrive, we order steak frites, the french fries were nice but the steak was orrible full of filaments and totally cold so I left most of it on the plate. Waitress came to take the dishes she clearly see that my steak was all in the plate,she ever ask if the food was ok? Obviously not, for this reataurant is normal if a client left all his food in his plate. Cocktail was nice but the bad costumer service ruined all the experience. Its a shame cos as i said is a very very nice place but...
