There are many things that Washington Galleries could do better. Unfortunately it’s not Disabled friendly? for example lack of access to Toilets is a huge issue for many. Most of the stores do no allow anyone to use their WC - washrooms.
There is only 1 accessible lift in the entire shopping complex which is hidden away with very poor signage - ( facilities management should be sorting this ASAP)
Other Lifts which maybe in ground floor stores are deliberately blocked off by these stores because they don’t want anyone to use them. Not quite sure what the Health & Safety team are doing? That is something that should be looked at urgently.
The shop mobility is difficult to find ( it’s in the Center of the mall?) and a very long walk to get there from any of the car parks ( the shortest route is by McDonnell's car parks 1-2 unfortunately! it’s an area where all the delivery drivers park to pick up and chat (Uber food, just eat etc) so the parking is full all the time with no monitoring or control from the management. Many disabled people would not be able to do this on their own.
On a positive note the member of staff I personally have been in contact with on the shop mobility was very helpful and accommodating ( I think her name was Kimberly) who went above and beyond to help me at the end of what was probably a very long day for her. Her help & small act of kindness made such...
Read moreThis is a must for any young couple setting up their first home. Some of the furniture is sourced brand new by the shop keeper David. Whilst I was in an Indian couple came in, very well to do, if I may say so. The lady spoke with me about the furniture shop. She said "have bought everything for our home from here. Everything. We've been coming here for years (14) they are very helpful. And indeed they are in more ways than is obvious at first. This year they have granted £14.000 to the Macmillan's Trust to support Nurses giving help to all of us. Anyway below are some photos for you to consider. Thing is if you go in with a picture in your head or show David a picture on your phone and give him some time he will be able to get you either that piece of furniture or one very close and at a lot better price. It's worth a try isn't it. Not just for young couples starting off either. All of us. There are serious savings to be made here. Why not give some consideration when in need of getting a piece of furniture or bits and pieces of crockery. The photos will give you...
Read moreI love this place, there are plenty of shops and places to eat. There are three major supermarkets, Sainsbury's , ASDA and Iceland as well as banks and cashpoint,, travel agents. There is a pub within the shopping centre called the oasis, where they have a good selection of drinks, you can also get a reasonably priced meal here. Ideal if you want take a break from shopping and rest your legs for a while. There are lifts in the centre for disabled access, escalators in various locations and for the more healthy person stairs, there are also seating areas in various locations. There is an indoor market inside called the inshops, again very good shops including, clothing, shoes, fruit and veg, delicatessens, butchers, bakeries, electrical, clothing repairs, cobblers, mobile phone and accessories, hairdressers and several places to eat. All in all, a great place where you could spend a whole day. Nearby there is a bowling alley, leisure centre, bingo hall, KFC and Frankie...
