I have given North 3 stars as I have visited before for brunch and it has been lovely . Was today just a bad day ? Food was very mediocre, overcooked, dry and pretty tasteless tbh. I did mention this half way through our meal and server told the kitchen he said. I really dislike leaving a poor review , in fact I never actually do , especially as North is a small independent restaurant , which I love to support, but today was so disappointing unfortunately. The premises and views are beautiful but the food quality today was really not good at all. They did offer, very half heartedly, to take my food off the bill as we went to pay , despite it still being on the bill after mentioning it wasn't good earlier, but as we had eaten a lot of it , I did offer to pay which was readily accepted . I also feel that my comments were discussed and scorned by the server in the open kitchen , with the kitchen staff , as we were leaving . I was watching from the exit. I may be wrong here 🤷🏼♀️but that is certainly how it appeared to me as a paying customer. They were definitely laughing & making fun of someone / something as we were leaving. It looked to be us, as it stopped so abruptly , as soon they saw us watching what was being said. This restaurant has the capacity to be really lovely , but they need to watch the quality of food , taste & cooking of it and not get complacent, as there are many more good quality cafes / restaurants to visit in Seaburn just a...
Read moreThis is a 2 in 1 review, we came back in May for the evening menu and went today for brunch with family. In May there were some small plates that they absolutely smashed, mainly the vegetarian dishes and the mackerel. Didn't like the mussels in the beer sauce. I thought for small plates it was over priced but the service was good. Today, for brunch, the service was slow, the waitresses felt inexperienced although they were lovely but a little out of their depth. We were there for about 30 mins before they took our food order. The juice served was warm, the coffee didn't come with sugar or even a spoon. I had the mackerel hash and the mackerel was tiny, it lacked any flavour and the potatoes were under cooked. I asked for a slice of toast but it never came so I had to eat the slice of another group members instead. Butter was an after thought and again it didn't taste of anything. The haggis rosti was apparently very nice as were the Turkish eggs, but the Crab Eggs Benedict could have come with more than one slice of rye and a lot more crab for the price. Overall, tried it once, gave them another go, but I don't think...
Read moreIt was ok but that’s about it. My son had been before and wanted to take me. But thinking back he wonders why, as his first experience wasn’t that good. The staff on that occasion hadn’t been great. He got steak which was overcooked quite hard. He thinks it had been half cooked then reheated for the order. His fault for not saying how he wanted it but then again if you serve steak shouldn’t you ask how the customer wants it ? We had been chatting so forgot to say he wanted it rare. I ordered the rye with mine. One slice of dry no butter not 2’’ round, £1.50! Got charged £50 for a bottle of wine we didn’t have. Yes, it was taken off the bill but just another small thing. My son commented that we wernt asked if we had enjoyed our meal which was something else to note. It’s Very small, no atmosphere and the views are a bit run down. A rickety fence and lots of old Seagrass and people walking past about a foot from the tables looking in. But Don’t let our views put you off. Try it for yourself. This was just our experience and like I told my son I hope North take it as valuable feedback and...
