There are not loads of spaces to park, so on a busy weekend or sunny day the car park can fill up quickly. There are no amenities, although on the loop to Castle Coch there is occasionally a trailer located there. It isn't always open though.

There is a map which shows some of the nice woodland walks at the car park and by the top of the route that starts right by Castle Coch. One of the routes has a sculpture trail which may make the walk more enjoyable for young children.

The trails have recently been marked out and signed more clearly than they have been over the last few years.

It is a lovely place to walk dogs. However, there is a bin issue. Responsible dog owners would take their dog poo home with them if they can't find the single bin in the carpark. But this place needs them around the marked paths or at Castle Coch as people just seem to leave them... (See...

Exllent woodland to walk only. Just above Castle Coch via the pane that runs in front of the castle.

There's free parking, but it can get busy.

It's a very mature woodland with access for decent prams with big tyres.

A very good spot for walking dogs with wide paths for the most.

Seems decent for biking also with inclines and fast wide swoops.

There are some nice wood sculptures dotted around, especially at the front and along the main sculpture trail.

There are no amenities around. But there is a pub near by in Tongwynlais

The only issue I have and it's similar in other places these days is the folk that pick their dog poo up and throw it into the bushes and trees whilst in the bag. Why bother. Just throw the poo on its own if your going to do that. Much better than cheap mom biodegradable bags hanging off tree limbs like Christmas baubles.

Apart from that....

We did the sculpture trail from the car park. It’s a lovely trail and the placement of the sculptures are quite well distanced; far enough that we keep moving, but not so far that young walkers lose interest and want to return to the car. I think the trail has been here a while because some of the sculptures (and their signs/plaques) could do with a little TLC. The only thing that really spoiled this walk for us was the dog poo. A few dog owners have not picked up after their dogs. A few other dog owners have picked up and bagged, and then at various points discarded poo and bag together. Despite this it was still a...

I think these were working mines once upon a time not sure how far the three bears system goes but they can be accesed via a walk from the far side of castle coch however i drove out of the castle turned left and drove a short drive and the caves were a left turn as i parked the car i spoted wild garlic everywhere supposed to be realy healthy for you the caves are tricky to find but as you park your car you follow the trail and after a long walk you will see carvings of bears on your right the caves are near there worth a visit for sure
