If I could give this 0 stars I would. I usually come to the markets with my friends and family and usually have a pleasant experience until today. I arrived at the market with my friend going to get a coffee, we had previously been to a bakery and bought a croissant so planned on eating this with the coffee we were planning purchasing at the market which we thankfully didn’t end up getting. We were met with very hostile staff, firstly a older lady came over and said we were not allowed to sit and eat the croissant as it hadn’t been bought from there which I said we were planning on getting a drink from the markets which she said we were still not allowed to sit there and said we have to leave. She was abit unpleasant with her approach but didn’t think to much of it. We agreed and were planning on leaving sitting looking for another coffee shop which we could then go to nearby, this is where the problem arose as a man then came over to us and very rudely started telling us to leave and saying we were clearly still sitting there and eating which we were not! We had had one bite before the lady came over and had not ate anything else other than finished chewing the food as I assume they wouldn’t want us to spit this out on the table? This man please note came over seconds after the lady had asked us to leave which we were going to after we had put our things away. I am absolutely shocked with the level of customer service and the way in which we were spoken to just because we are two young people I think. It is absolutely disgusting for this man to try and argue with us when we had agreed to the lady and we’re just sat discussing where we can move onto next. I understood these were the rules and we did not argue this but the way in which this man spoke to us was indescribably rude and not called for. I am glad I did not have chance to order my coffee from here as the atmosphere was not welcoming and I will not be returning. Manners and a little patience costs nothing and I very much doubt these individuals will go very far in life with the attitude they are putting out to the universe....
Read moreReally nice experience. The staff were all really friendly and nice. The food was excellent. They ask you to pay £1 per person service charge upon entry (where the old hospital entrance was for minor injuries when it was a hospital) and that is for a brown paper bag they hand to you at the door. Inside the bag is a carton of still mineral water each, hand sanitiser wipes and cutlery. You have to sign in (covid requirement) and then you order food via an app they explain to you at the entrance. The app was a pain to begin with but I got used to it pretty quickly. They had a queue at 12.30 on Thursday 22nd April but it went down really quickly and we got a table that was in the sun until we left at 2pm. Ordered an apple juice (pleasantly surprised it turned out to be a bottle of and it was lovely) an eggs benedict with Asparagus (from tender cow) and a dirty chai late (I didn't like it but it might just have not been for me) and that all cost £22 plus the £2 in. Got the drinks really quickly - within 5 minutes - and the food not long after. The only downside - and it didn't bother us - was that we were very close to the tables beside us - if you really want distance then it might be an issue and I don't recall if people had more space between them on the other side of the market - we were seated on Pott Street. If you're not bothered about distancing, there were only 4 tables there (I think) and it was really sheltered so we would definitely sit there again - in fact I'll be requesting it next time! Hope I've covered everything there. Anyway,...
Read moreIt was ok filled a Sunday afternoon but unfortunately empathy for people and rules advertised in the area is not a strength, 4 adults 2 kids and a lady in a wheelchair that was us today, we spent £60 in the Market on food and £60 at the chip shop we were sat outside the market and it started to rain, so we moved inside the market as there was plenty of empty tables, we were then approached by a young lady telling us to leave as food purchased out side the market was not allowed and it was not a picnic area even though we had purchased food from the market, I explained the situation but she was very rude and left saying well you know for next time, ten minutes later we were approached by another young lady who said she had been sent by her manager to tell us to leave, I pointed out the previous girls comments to remember for next time and she replied these are our policys, which are not advertised anywhere, I then asked her to send her spineless manager over to discuss the situation which did not happen, this is a place that is is not about empathy and inclusivity and poor customer service, the lady in the wheelchair was my mum who we had taken out of a care home today for an afternoon out, shame on everyone involved in this incident today especially the manager who did not...
