I went on Sunday. It was raining which obviously affects the experience. I have been to the old tour at the old set before. They took you round the actual sets and dressing rooms etc. You then went around the Street on your own to do your own thing. This time, at the new set you went with a tour guide around the outside. They talked a lot and all I wanted to do was explore and take photos. It was very controlled. You have a time slot for your tour and every group is supposed to be 15 minutes behind you. Our time slot was 1pm but the guide didn't turn up until 1.20. When we finally got to the street he said you're really lucky because there's no one here and you'll be able to get photos of the street with no one in them.. That was because we were running 20 minutes late! They took professional photos during the tour of certain places. Outside the Rovers obviously and a few other places. At the end of the outside tour you went indoors to the exhibition. There were no sets. The exhibition itself was pretty basic. You could get a photo pulling a pint. On the old tour you actually went into the Rovers but this one was just a mock up. We were guaranteed we would meet a star from the show. When we arrived there was a queue at a desk. We asked what it was for and were told that if you pay an extra £20 you can meet the star. This was a disappointment because we thought we already were meeting a star. We asked who it was and they wouldn't tell us so we didn't purchase the ticket. Because our tour was 20 minutes late, if we had bought the extra ticket to meet the undisclosed star we wouldn't have been able to meet them anyway. I love Corrie and enjoyed seeing the street but I feel like it's a bit of a rip off now. They say you are guaranteed to meet a star, that's not true. The professional photographer charges £15 for one photo. I wouldn't recommend it unless you are a die hard fan like me. If you went to the old tour you will be disappointed unfortunately. I don't like to say negative things but I'm just...
Read moreWe went for my birthday, had to park at the Imperial war museum next to the itv studios where coronation Street is filmed. Went into a cafe/waiting area before our guide collected us and walked us around the coronation Street outside set. As with everything, it was smaller than it looks on t.v. but none the less it was enjoyable to see where all the magic happens that you see on t.v. Plenty of photo opportunities such as Roy's Rolls, The Cabin, Underworld ect. Now unfortunately the negatives... You felt as though you were rushed around quicker than you'd like as there were other groups either in front or behind you that were being led by other guides, there is too many people in each group so taking those memorable pictures is a nightmare as folks are just walking in front of your camera all the time. There is no interior sets to walk around, so all the things like inside underworld, various houses, the rovers you can not see, however the guide will point out where these are filmed, hidden from view. Meet the star package wasn't worth it, we met Julie Golding (Shona) , well I say meet, it was a case of stand next to them, have someone take a picture of you next to them , and that's it, no conversation with them or anything, tbh she couldn't get away quick enough. The gift shop was small, not well stocked, and the bar was a mock up of the rovers, not the real set. We left feeling a bit deflated, the star wasn't very interactive with the group, it was smile ,photo, next. If ITV advertise meet and greet studio and street tours, they should pack a bit more in, not have multiple grown the day so the 'star' would not be...
Read moreVisited for the Coronation Street Tour for the first time with hubby and son on Saturday morning 13th Sept . From start to visit it was an excellent tour . Lovely friendly welcome when arriving from both outdoor and indoor staff. Everything explained well as we got our wristbands.
Our tour guide Mia was excellent! She made the tour so interesting from the moment she took us to the quick film show to start the tour and all around the walk outside. Very informative and answered any questions. Made the tour so interesting . Given time to take our own photos and look around each section. Official photos could be taken by photographers in a few places, but they also offered to take photos with your own phones . No pressure to buy the official ones.
Pity it rained really heavily the last 5 minutes .Mia asked permission from the office to finish a few minutes early as we were all getting soaked and sheltering where we could. (she checked with us all first and we all agreed)
Then went inside to look around the interesting exhibition and get more photos . Official photographer also offered to take our photos behind the Rovers bar on our own phone.
Shop area with merchandise well laid out. Didn't use the cafe .
A really enjoyable day out. All staff were so friendly , one male staff member even advised a good area in Manchester to go for lunch later , and where trams went from to get there, as we were leaving.
We got there really early and parked at the Imperial War Museum car park which is right next door.
Big thanks to our tour guide Mia for making the tour so interesting and informative. And to rest of the staff for being...
