A beautiful cafe that boasts a good range of breakfast options. We were waiting to board our train and happened to find this cafe by chance. The breakfast was so good, that way we decided to extend our time by an hour, and board the train later. The portion size is quite big, so if you are a light eater suggest you share or go for a kids meal. Overall service was excellent as well, the staff were prompt to get our food. The toilet was maintained clean as well. Would say it’s a great brunch or breakfast spot in Ulverston.

We’ve visited a couple of times now on a bistro night and the food is truly delicious! It’s hard to find somewhere locally that knows how to cook their meat and seafood properly- flavour combinations are on point and the 3 course deal makes this place a bargain too! The bistro menu changes monthly and this place is tiny so I would definitely recommend pre booking your table! Can’t wait to pop back in the summer to try some more seasonal goodies!

THAT was AMAZING! I'm a visitor to this lovely town and came across this jem yesterday evening (Saturday). The quality and skill involved (in what I suspect will be every meal here), was nothing short of sublime! You will not get better value for your money. And on top of this, the staff are lovely, friendly people which made this a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Massive thumbs up guys and I wish you all the best for the future!

We were on holiday staying with friends in Cumbria and we all decided to go to Ulverston initially to see the Druid circle at Birkrigg common. Afterwards we decided to find somewhere for a coffee and snack in the town. Luckily we came across Poppies first and decided to give it a try. It looked clean and we were made welcome as soon as we walked in. We all ordered coffee and sandwiches and the service was fantastic. The coffee arrived first which was lovely and soon after the well presented plates of home made food were placed Infront of us. I couldn't fault anything neither could my wife or our friends it was delicious, home made coleslaw, home baked bread beautiful salad dressing. We left feeling full and contented and we were pleasantly surprised by the value for money when our bill arrived. 10/10 next time we go to Ulverston it will be to go back to Poppies!

Just to say our next visit to Poppies was yet again another fantastic experience. I had a breakfast this time which was one of the best l have had all quality ingredients and the homemade rosti was amazing. My wife had eggy bread with a choice of toppings which she said was lovely. Once...

Genuinely one of the best, if not the best, eating out experiences I've had since Covid and indeed ever. So good we ate here twice while on holiday. The food is brilliant value considering how much things have increased recently and so very tasty. One of a few places we found on our trip that caters well for vegetarians and has a menu that doesn't focus on meat. We treated ourselves to an afternoon tea on our second visit (having seen it be served on our first) and it was hands down the best afternoon tea I've ever had, light but filling and so extremely tasty.

The service was spot on too, friendly but not too OTT. They even had cutlery for our wee one which was a really nice touch and something I've hardly seen anywhere else.

The only downsides are that it's a little cramped and the soap in the toilet wasn't great (on both visits very difficult to get any soap out of the dispenser). We also did have a wee wait for our afternoon tea despite the advance order but in fairness they were extremely busy when we arrived.

We're holidaying in the area again in October and can't wait...

A tribe of us descended onto the cafe for breakfast this morning (apologies for so many appearing at once)

Anyway, absolutely phenomenal all round.

The mixed berry smoothie was just what i needed but the true star was the large breakfast. I'm a big guy and i can often scoff at 'large' breakfasts. This however was absolutely sensational. Amazing bacon and sauages, the potato rosti was absolutely phenomenal. The black pudding was fantastic and absolutely huge slab of it as well. The mushrooms i wish I'd asked what they were, but again amazing, beans and a huge slice of toast (incredibly thick which was fantastic for mopping up).

The staff were absolutely lovely and gave such a warm welcome and you just felt happy being there.

Arguably one of the best breakfasts I've ever had, i was too excited to tuck in i forgot to take photos , i will endeavour to do...
