Verily, dear friends, lend me thine ears and hearken unto the tale of mine esteemed companion Ted, who embarked upon a most splendid adventure at the Waterfront Museum, a bastion of heritage and history.
Upon crossing the threshold of this venerable institution, one is immediately enveloped in an air of grandiosity and reverence. The museum’s halls, adorned with relics of yore, doth tell the tales of ages past with an eloquence that stirreth the soul and kindleth the flame of curiosity.
Ted, with eyes wide and spirit alight, did traverse these hallowed corridors, each step a journey through the annals of time. The exhibits, meticulously curated, doth present a tapestry of our shared past, each artifact a thread that weaveth a story rich and profound. From the ancient mariners who braved the tempestuous seas to the industrious craftsmen who toiled upon these very shores, the museum doth pay homage to the indomitable spirit of our forebears.
The atmosphere within is one of both majesty and intimacy. The gentle hum of whispered reverence fills the air, while the grandeur of the exhibits doth inspire awe and wonder. It is a place where history doth come alive, where the past and present converge in a dance of enlightenment.
Ted’s adventure was naught short of extraordinary. He marveled at the ancient ships, their weathered timbers a testament to voyages long past. He stood in awe of the intricate models and detailed dioramas, each a window into a bygone era. The interactive displays, both engaging and educational, did capture his imagination and transport him to times of old.
In truth, the Waterfront Museum hath provided Ted with an experience most memorable, an odyssey through the rich tapestry of heritage that doth linger in the heart and mind. The museum’s dedication to preserving and celebrating our history is evident in every corner, every display, every whispered tale of days long gone.
Thus, I commend unto thee, gentle reader, a visit to this remarkable sanctuary of history. May thou, like Ted, find thyself transported on a fantastic adventure, full of wonder and discovery, within the storied walls of the Waterfront...
Read moreIt's a great place to visit, One it's totally free, They have a fantastic display of Marine Time Ships and accessories. A section dedicated to the Coal Mining Section. Not as big, has I would have thought, But I think the displays change at different times. So well worth keeping an eye or ear open.
They also have a section that features Welsh prominent Queer/ Gay people, not large in any sense. But informative. A section on prominent people over the years.
I would definitely revisit on a regular basis, Owing to taking in all the relevant information and spend time pressing the buttons on individual display cabinets which light up and provide more information.
I did pick up that staffing levels had been hit badly, with just one maintenance person managing the site, which would excuse some of the displays poorly lit also the buttons not working on some of the displays properly.
But the staff there are just so lovely and so very helpful, going well over and above there duties accommodating and informative, A big thank you to them all.
Very little about the First Railway in the world, The brilliant old Mumbles train, But not to be too disheartened One of the sheds outside not associated with the Marine time museum, does House an old tram complete, and one Quarter of the original Mumbles tram. This section is staffed by volunteers, who are absolutely amazing there, Mainly open on Wednesday and Saturdays. Because of staffing problems. Which is quite sad.
Also I think Swansea Council should give priority to this lovely historical part of its amazing Heritage. We are extremely fortunate to have this marvellous museum in place there, and I dearly hope Swansea Council will look after this building maintenance wise.
And better news recently that Swansea Council are spending a considerable amout of money on updating the Old Museum in Wales and integrating it onto The Marine Museum increasing there capacity to include even more objects and displays. All...
