I've been coming here for years time to time. Always happy, satisfied of wide choice of cask and craft beer (so much regret that chain is changing the owner and welsh Brain's won't be a major beer supplier), beautiful-historic ambient, nice views over Marina and super-kind service... But during this Christmas Season exceeds even my wildest dreams of getting experience here. Festive Menu was well combined, all of the meal been matching together. Very good quality of products (remembering it is still just a pub food officially), superb-tasty composition of fab fantastic startr (onion soup with toast on my side), tender meet with roasties, full of flavour gravy, and boiled vegs and fabulous dessert at the end. Simply pleasure and pure heaven for my taste buds 👌😋 I have to mention about ultra polite, friendly and helpful staff which make experience even more special. Plus very low prices comparing to other places of similar class. The only one thing which I can put on negative impression list is a speed of service. Got a feeling that I'm attending so e sort of running marathon. Meals been served one by one with two (literally!) minutes breaks. Even after my request of bringing dessert at least with 10 mins delay nothing change But it didn't ruin the full, very positive, experience at the end. Definitely will get back for more? ps. Worth to visit especially summer months for Swansea International Jazz Festival when Pub is a host of some performances!

Pre booked a table for Father’s Day, took a while to get my partner and all children out the door and down to the pump house for a Sunday lunch for Father’s Day, on arriving it was ridiculously busy and although I’d booked online a few days prior I was still told that a big party of 13 have just arrived and due to that our food would be a 40 minute wait which wasn’t mentioned whilst booking which would of been great to know when having to bring 4 hungry children out for a meal. When food did eventually arrive we had no cutlery food was freezing cold on arrival and the Yorkshire puddings just looked wet and soggy. Absolutely disgusting meal, kids would hardly touch the food absolutely vile and inedible, veg was partially cooked the beef was a choking hazard to my children as it was so tough. Also we were placed next to a big party of screaming crying children being really badly misbehaved and running under our table, the parents nor staff did nothing about this, 100000% would not recommend, do not go to this place

In Swansea for an event.. If you have a dog.. WOW! I’ve never known such a welcome. The minute you walk in you’re met with dog bowls, water and the dog menu - yes really! The lovely Lucia couldn’t do enough to make us and our dog welcome. Ignore any negative reviews. We had roast turkey and roast beef, which was lovely. A small mix up meant I received half a chicken instead of the turkey but it was swiftly changed without fuss or problem, very appreciated. We also ordered a chicken breast from the Doggy Menu, served on a plate to our four legged friend. Beer is lovely - we tried a local bitter and lager, both very drinkable. Ordered a second drink online which was really easy and service very swift. Our dog Bear thoroughly recommends it here and will be telling all his chums back home!

This venue seems to enjoy embarrassing their customers: a ‘Dog friendly’ pub that we had booked for Sunday dinner. When we get there, the hostess isn't the warmest and when we gave our details she stated ‘the dog isn’t on the booking’ (I had my dog with me), I didn’t really know what to say as our other friend made the booking who wasn’t with us, but she would have put it down if there was an option. The hostess seemed to act as though this was just too much (there were other people behind us), then she ended up easily finding a table for us anyway.

I’ve since checked their booking system and at no point is there an option to choose that you have a dog with you/book people and dog. So that waitress was quite mean to put me in an embarrassing situation in front of a queue of people for something I had no control over.

That issue aside, this place is massively under-staffed. Despite our booking, it was 45min wait for food. And to get drinks at the bar we had to queue for 15mins. The barmaid kept making mistakes and it’s clear to see the staff in the kitchen were incredibly stressed too (open kitchen). They served beef dinner but ran out of horseradish even though it’s listed on the menu as an accompaniment. Water-like gravy and veg with next to no flavour. … On all levels it was just not good.

I hate to write negative reviews but if you’re looking at other options, choose those. Unless you enjoy being embarrassed in front of people, made to wait a long time for food and queueing for ages to get a drink, go elsewhere.

I won’t be back to this venue and would warn anyone about my experience. Once upon a time this was a nice place but since it got taken over by a faceless corporation it’s lost everything...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Pump House, a Marston’s pub, and I can honestly say it was one of the most enjoyable pub experiences I’ve had in quite some time. From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted warmly by Gib, who looked after our table throughout the evening. His professionalism, friendliness, and genuine enthusiasm really set the tone for a relaxed and welcoming visit.

The pub itself has a fantastic atmosphere—spacious, clean, and inviting, with just the right mix of traditional charm and modern touches. It’s clearly well looked after, and the staff take pride in maintaining a comfortable environment for guests. Whether you’re popping in for a casual drink or settling down for a meal, The Pump House manages to strike that perfect balance between being lively and laid-back.

The food was excellent, with hearty pub classics served hot, fresh, and full of flavour. The menu had plenty of choice, and everything we tried was generously portioned and good value for money. Drinks, too, were well kept—my pint was perfectly pulled, and the selection behind the bar had something for everyone.

What really elevated the evening, though, was the service from Gib. Attentive without being intrusive, he made sure we had everything we needed and added a personal touch with friendly conversation and genuine care. It’s rare these days to come across someone who clearly takes pride in their work and goes the extra mile to make guests feel welcome, but Gib absolutely did just that.

Overall, The Pump House is a fantastic pub, made even better by the outstanding service. I’ll certainly be returning soon and recommending it to...

Appalling!!! We arrived and were seated at our pre booked table at 2.45pm. All was fine, we were told to use the QR code to order direct to the table, great, not a problem. Except when we went to order the QR code function wasn’t working, it was disabled!

Ok no problem I’ll queue at the bar that’s ok. Having queued for over 20 minutes in a lengthy queue, with staff passing back forth, busy ok that’s understandable, I got half way down the queue only for a member of staff to open a till at the back of the queue to start taking orders, so everyone behind me ran to that ti, so myself and the people infront of me who had be queueing the longest got shunned and had to continue queueing longer.

I finally get to the till to complete my order to then be told “so sorry we don’t have much food left, we have no Sunday dinners, no grills, no burgers and no lasagne.” Ummmmm ok, so what do you have “fish and chips”.

Quite frankly I find that shocking for a busy central pub on the marina, during a lovely spring summer day, being incapable of having enough food to few BOOKED guests!

What was poor service even more was the fact that at lest 4-5 members of staff passed the lengthy queue on multiple occasions each! Not one single person stopped to inform anyone in the queue about the lack of food available. I had a very hungry 3 year old who’d excitedly picked his meal and was looking forward to this. I’d paid for parking just to visit the establishment. Then left promptly and had to drive elsewhere nd pay for further parking after finding somewhere else to sit down to eat and feed my young son.

Disgusting service! Will...
