It's free and even in terrible weather you would struggle to spend 30 minutes here. It's a terrible injustice to the community and people of Swansea. Either no-one over the centuries has donated to their museum or someone is keeping it all under lock and key as it's certainly not on show to the public! Dire entrance, no customer service, not much of a gift shop, dated displays and drab atmosphere. When I visited there was an appalling exhibition on clothes, a stale life size replica of a Welsh kitchen that's been on display since 1919 seemingly and an abandoned stuffed animal section. Bizarrely an Egyptian room that was just weird. Why is there nothing on the heritage, shipping, trade, beauty and industry of swansea? It's enroute from the city centre to the harbour so worth peeking into especially in poor weather as it has free toilets but it needs someone to love and regenerate it.

Located in the heart of Swansea, the museum features a diverse collection ranging from maritime artifacts to local art and archaeology. The exhibits are well-curated, providing insightful context and engaging displays that cater to visitors of all ages. The museum also features an intriguing display of a genuine Egyptian mummy, which is quite interesting. The mummy is accompanied by informative panels that detail its history, including the context of its discovery and the rituals associated with mummification. The admission is totally free and was not crowded even if it was a Saturday. It's definitely a goos place to spend few hours and gather some knowledge.

I recently visited the Swansea Museum in the heart of the city and was thoroughly impressed. The museum showcases the rich cultural heritage and history of Swansea, and it does so in an engaging and interactive way. From the moment you step into the museum, you are transported back in time and are able to learn about the history of Swansea in a fascinating and educational manner.

The exhibits are well-designed and thoughtfully put together. I was especially impressed by the artifacts and relics on display, as they truly bring the history of Swansea to life. The museum also has a fantastic collection of art and sculptures, which are displayed in a way that highlights their beauty and significance.

One of the things that I appreciated the most about the Swansea Museum was the knowledgeable and friendly staff. They were always available to answer questions and provide additional information about the exhibits. They made my visit to the museum an enjoyable and educational experience.

Overall, I would highly recommend the Swansea Museum to anyone visiting Swansea. Whether you are a local or just passing through, this museum is a must-visit for anyone who is interested in history, art, and culture. The museum is accessible, well-maintained, and provides an excellent experience for visitors of all ages. So, if you are looking for a fun and educational activity in Swansea, be sure to check out the...

I have to say that my visit last week was a huge disappointment. The first room to the left resembles a charity shop display. Most items were not labelled and the lighting was poor. Downstairs, the permanent displays of milestones and Celtic crosses was much more informative. Elsewhere, upstairs there was so sense of direction. A vast numbers of prehistoric items was fascinating but very poorly labelled and numbered. It was clear that the accompanying texts were haphazard and could have been cyclostyled or produced on a Banda machine - ink blotches, yellowed leaves coming away from their sellotaped mounts. One prize time was an Alfred Janes’ still life. Such a pity that this museum looks shoddy and downtrodden. The Glynn Vivian, by contrast, was a much more compelling experience. I took advantage of our new found travel freedoms to visit the spectacular displays in Brecon Museum; a visit to the National Museum at Cardiff was refreshing though they still have a long way to go. Swansea is dying on its feet. Our streets are littered, our shops are closing; we have the promise of new structures but already the Arena and car park look dated and shoddy. What will it take to reinvigorate our city centre? We seem to be doomed forever to be the poor relation of our capital city. If Brecon can do it, why, oh why can’t we? Quite frankly, I...
