I rarely leave reviews, but my recent experience at the cinema left me feeling frustrated enough to speak up. What should have been a smooth and enjoyable late-night visit was marred by poor staff communication and a lack of consideration for guests attending later showings. Firstly, it was clear that the cinema staff were not effectively communicating with each other. When I approached the concessions stand, I was informed that certain machines—namely, the nacho cheese dispenser and the Tango Ice Blast machine—had already been turned off. What was more frustrating was hearing one staff member express surprise that these machines had been shut down, clearly unaware it had even happened. This disorganisation is concerning and shows a real lack of internal communication and coordination. Even more disappointing was the timing of the closures. Both the nacho and Tango Ice Blast machines were shut down at 9:30 PM, despite the fact that films were still scheduled well beyond that time and people were still actively arriving. Cinemagoers expect the full range of refreshments to be available when they pay premium prices—not just for tickets, but for the overall experience. Shutting down key machines while the cinema is still operating at full capacity feels premature and dismissive of those attending later screenings. If there are policies in place regarding when certain machines must be cleaned or shut down, they should be communicated clearly to customers—and better yet, reconsidered altogether. Cleaning and maintenance should be scheduled after the final rush of customers, not during it. All in all, the lack of communication between staff and the early closure of concessions left a negative impression. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and re-evaluates its operational procedures to ensure that all guests, regardless of their showtime, receive the same...
Read moreAlways great choice of films. But then again it's a cinema ... however, everytime I go and watch a big title I always feel like I have left a place that has been deserted and let go through a zombie apocalypse. For instance, I feel its dated due go the grimy carpets and tatty hard floors. It's gone so far, cleaning probably won't make much of a difference now.
What drew the final straw for me was that every time I go. I always need the loo ... the loos need some money spent on them, as it seems like they have neglected them in terms of maintenance. Falling to bits and the cubicles don't even lock if you wanted a number 2 🤣 ... to me, this is a massive turn-off and is a reason myself and many others would probably stop visiting!
Next, the dated theme continues in the screens with torn VIP seats that have become very uncomfortable with never being updated since opening. Not to mention I was seated in a chair that has no backrest ...
Also, air con? What happened to a cool theatre ... never been so hot in my life! Where are the cocktails?
With the price of drinks, food and other items ... there should be plenty of money available to give this cinema a nice refurb. I feel the people behind it must be money grabbers and don't use their money where they should make it pleasant for its visitors, rather than "just supplying a service".
Lastly, some of the staff need some direction. Standing around and lazy ... I remember the day when you'd go to the cinema and it would feel like an experience. What happened to those days.
I think I'll be doing back to Odeon or Cineworld. The days when Vue cinemas were the best...
Read moreMy partner and I had a midweek date night to Vue cinema, it'd been a while since we'd ventured there due to covid. The process of booking the tickets online was tedious, took 3 attempts to actually get the booking correct. That done we made sure we had updated covid passes and were looking forward to our evening. Entering the cinema was straightforward, we had our masks on and our passes ready, I was impressed with the compliance to government guidelines. Once upstairs I quickly became disappointed, there was a limited offering of over priced snacks, no clear indication of which screen the film was showing and barely any staff to assist. On finding the correct screening we went to find our seats... G7 & G8... my partner had booked the VIP seats as I have a bad back and those seats are more comfortable for me, that is a great option. However when we found our seats we were unable to sit in them as they were covered in popcorn from the previous occupant! This tells me that the theatre had not been cleaned or sanitised in between screenings which, in this current situation, was quite worrying. Especially as 2 groups of teenagers kept moving seats throughout the film, in a worst case scenario they could've been spreading the virus all over that screening room had any of them been infected and if there's no sanitisation done following each showing of a film that could cause a massive problem. I'm afraid it really did spoil our enjoyment of the evening and we will be hesitant to return there...
