Have been to AMF many times in the past however, recently i went with my boyfriend and we had a poor experience.
To start with our bowling time was at 15:30, we waited in a long queue at the main reception desk for 15 minutes. There was only one member of staff at the desk, with other customers booking games.
On top of that we went to the bar to redeem our jug of coke voucher and to get a beer. Again there was only one member of staff at the bar serving drinks, therefore we had waited another 15 minutes before we had even started the game.
When we got down to the bowling lane and had a few bowls the lights went out in the lane, as well as in the lane next to us. When we went to find a member of staff there was no one to be seen. Once we had found a senior member of staff he said that he couldn't help, so we had to wait at the desk AGAIN. We only asked what we should do and the worker at the front desk very rudely told us to wait in line... with people booking games and people needing help setting up games. 10 minutes passed and the guy in the bowling lane next to us went down to the desk, the lady at the desk immediately sorted out the lanes.... Not impressed by that either.
On top of that the game ran out of the 'allocated time' so we didn't even finish the second game. Which we were told to wait in line again... We just walked out, there was no point in trying to fix the game again.
For a busy Saturday afternoon, you would expect more than 4 members of staff. Wouldn't mind but 2 of the members of staff were walking round and saying that the couldn't help. May as well have not been there.

Read moreVisited with grandchildren on a Sunday. It was a bit of a mixed bag. The place was generally tidy, though the toilets smell like they do not use any kind of odor killer, and when you have washed your hands and go to leave make sure you have some rubber gloves to exit the doors, sticky sticky sticky ..... yuk !! The staff look like they have a problem, and in my experience when you have a whole load of staff that look like they really don't want to be there and are fed up, that is going to rub off on the customers and they are not going to want to make a repeat visit. I understand all businesses will have the odd person that does not look happy, but so many? I think the business or managers need to look in to and understand why and rectify the problem. Lots of games machines to take your children's pocket money, and the bowling alleys are tired. Having said all that bar the staff morale and the sticky smelly toilets, it is a fun experience with the children, it makes memories for them because they are not going to even consider the tiredness of the place or the staff, they are just there for the fun and the memories. If you own this business, talk to your staff and understand why they are all like they are feeling so low in their job. Try and help them.
Oh!! I forgot to say the food whilst not a massive menu, was lovely. The burgers tasted really good and the fries look and taste like McDonald's are supposed to. Maybe McDonald's could take a lesson from AMF on how...
Read moreOrdered food while bowling, took a very long time to arrive and was cold once delivered to us, we'd already finished bowling so had to move our food to a table.
We were only informed that they were out of stock for an item we had ordered, 15 minutes after we had placed the order and paid for the food.
Sharing starter deal, one of our selection of 3 items was out of stock, we were asked to substitute it for another. We looked at the menu and decided we didn't want any of the other options on the starter menu, so we thought we could just double up on a second portion of nachos instead but they stated, as per the deal, that we weren't permitted to have a second nachos to replace the item they didn't have in stock that we had originally ordered and paid for.
The least they could've done is offered the second nachos as an option as an exception, as it wasn't our fault our third choice was out of stock.
Didn't want to refund us either initially. Wanted to give a voucher instead, but we insisted on refund as we do not live local. Staff and manager attitude wasn't great but maybe they're just having a bad day after the busy...
