If rock bottom decided to open a sandwich shop, this would be it. I’ve had meals from a service station that were fresher, cleaner, and far less tragic than what was served here. The moment I walked in, I should have turned straight back round — the place looked worn-out, smelt faintly of old grease and disappointment, and the tables were sticky enough to trap small insects.
Still, I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. Enormous mistake. The sandwich that eventually arrived looked as though it had been assembled during a minor natural disaster. The bread was limp and clammy, the salad a sort of greyish green that suggested it had seen better decades, and — the pièce de résistance — a hair, right through the middle.
When I pointed it out, the staff looked barely bothered. Not so much as an apology, just a lazy, “We can make you another one,” as if I’d ever risk round two. The general atmosphere behind the counter was one of utter indifference — like they’d all silently agreed to give up sometime last year.
Everything about the place felt grubby and half-hearted. The tables were unclean, the floor sticky, and the air thick with the scent of neglect. You’d think someone might take pride in serving decent food, but apparently that’s far too much to ask.
This isn’t just a poor excuse for a sandwich shop — it’s a warning from the universe. A reminder that sometimes, hunger simply isn’t worth it.
Save your money, your time, and your stomach. Go anywhere else. This place doesn’t serve food; it serves regret, with a...
Read moreOh, and let's not skip over another crucial aspect of any food establishment — cleanliness. The Subway on London Road in Wellingborough isn't just quick and friendly; it's also a paragon of cleanliness. Each time I swing by to pick up an order, I can't help but notice how spotless the place is. The restaurant area is well-kept, with tables meticulously wiped down and floors free of the debris that can accumulate in the hustle and bustle of a busy eatery. But it's not just the public space that shines. Even from a glance behind the counter, you can see the kitchen is just as tidy. It's clear that the staff doesn't cut corners when it comes to hygiene. They seem to operate with a clean-as-you-go mentality, which, frankly, should be the norm in the food service industry. The surfaces gleam, the sandwich station is always in order, and the utensils are handled with care — it's all quite reassuring, especially in times when cleanliness is more important than ever. This attention to detail with cleanliness undoubtedly contributes to the overall positive impression of the establishment. It's just another reason why I, and surely others, appreciate this Subway. It's a place where you can trust that the food is not only made quickly and with a smile but also in a clean and sanitary environment. Hats off to the management and staff for maintaining such high standards. It makes my job as a delivery cyclist that much more pleasant and gives me confidence every time I hand over the food...
