There may be many folks who've lived in the Greater Augusta area for some time or even all their lives that don't know about Brick Pond Park in North Augusta. Just across the 13th Street Bridge and situated below the Municipal Building at 88 Georgia Ave(near SRP Park), Brick Pond Park is a 40 acre restored wetland with multiple amenities including trails,areas for fishing, non-motorized boating and several seating areas for wildlife viewing. There is a diverse and healthy ecosystem here and there are alligators present(keep a safe distance). Read moreSurprised is an understatement when I visited Brick Pond Park this morning. I heard locals talking about it beauty and tranquility this close to town. Its a prime example of nature and man living side by side. The walking and bike paths a maintained year around it appears. You can see turtles and gators and a number of birds. Its simply breathtaking. Many place to sit and observe nature or pack a lunch and make a day of it. I can not wait to show my children. I was very surprised that I actually found , as many claim to have but I have never seen any.
