There may be many folks who've lived in the Greater Augusta area for some time or even all their lives that don't know about Brick Pond Park in North Augusta. Just across the 13th Street Bridge and situated below the Municipal Building at 88 Georgia Ave(near SRP Park), Brick Pond Park is a 40 acre restored wetland with multiple amenities including trails, areas for fishing, non-motorized boating and several seating areas for wildlife viewing. There is a diverse and healthy ecosystem here and there are alligators present(keep a safe distance). It's a great spot to visit even during winter months and an amazing example of careful civic planning resulting in a functioning wetland at the edge of downtown North Augusta and just across the river from downtown Augusta.

Surprised is an understatement when I visited Brick Pond Park this morning. I heard locals talking about it beauty and tranquility this close to town. Its a prime example of nature and man living side by side. The walking and bike paths a maintained year around it appears. You can see turtles and gators and a number of birds. Its simply breathtaking. Many place to sit and observe nature or pack a lunch and make a day of it. I can not wait to show my children. This place will make you want to relocate to North Augsta, South Carolina as I have. Highly recommend. Also, has a butterfly garden I have not yet visited. Stay tuned.

Nice outdoor area for a short hike around the ponds, next to the Greeneway in North Augusta where we bike often (13 miles round trip). Many lotus flowers in the ponds. We saw 2 gators, a small 3-4 ft and a large 7-8 ft but that one was too far away. Many turtles basking on logs in water. One lady was taking photos of green frogs on the iris flowers - very cool she shared info, otherwise we would have not noticed.

The drive to Brick Pond was about half an hour from Evans. Once there the traffic circle confused me and my GPS. The trails are level with mostly clear views of the swamp. There's no guarantee you'll spot alligators since they blend in so well with the environment. On my most recent trip I saw turtles, several large birds, and finally some alligators. On my next trip I hope to get better shots of some birds.

Bric Yard pond park has a special meaning for me. My Daddy Charles Henry Koss as a teenager ( born 1905) worked there at Baynham making bricks and pottery. The path ways are clean I like the little covered bridge over the pond. Sit there so peaceful. Beware of the alligators. Yesterday Mama swimming with her 2 little ones Make sure you dogs are on leashes. Some of the pathways have fences around them
