I never felt sadder seeing animals in the zoo than when I was in Alameda Park Zoo in Alamogordo, New Mexico. I visited the place after reading some comments online about the varieties of animal species in it. Others wrote that it is their “favorite zoo in the world!” I should have not believed what I read online. When I saw the sad-looking state of the animals, I wished right then and there that the animals be transferred somewhere where they will be taken cared of. Small cages. So small a place that it will take less than 30 minutes to complete the cage trail. Not counting the ducks, the fishes, and the birds flying, there are only 20 (or even less) animals in total! In some cages, you will not see anything. Not a single species of animal moving. The animals might have been tired of people looking at them that they hide in rocks or bushes. Thank goodness, it only takes $2.50 to enter.

Its a really cute little zoo! They arealing improvements, its a slow process, especially being in Alamogordo. But all the animals look really hapoy and healthy. The only reason i knocked off a star, was because the Taipar enclosure was FULL of rats. They really need to do something about all of them. Hard to manage in a zoo im sure but it was alot... The little park for kids is really fun, swings, a slide and things to climb on! And nice green grass to sit if you want. Very clean. The pigeons are a little obnoxious, but what pigeon isnt!? 😂 Definitely go in and just stroll around, its worth it, and a really cheap way to entertain the kids for a few hours.

Me and my family my extended family we all went to the zoo to have a beautiful family trip. While we were there there was a security guard that continued to follow me in a creepy manner. I felt very uncomfortable as he continued to look at me up and down and stare at my body. He followed us through the zoo the whole time we were there. My mother-in-law has a hard time walking. we had to walk all the way across the field and all of a sudden a maintenance guy backed his golf cart up at an extremely high speed and my little 5 year old and 8 year old had to literally jump out of the way. My husband yelled for our children to jump out of the way if not they probably would have been hit. Then the man said you need to leave the zoo immediate ly. I was in shock and ask him why. He said you are not allowed to feed the animals I told him we are not feeding the animals. Besides the quarter duck food that we were feeding the poor animals that had to be in filthy water. And he said no that little girl gave a leaf. And I said I apologize but I don't believe so she probably was just throwing some duck food at another bird. I apologized and said sorry and asked if we could continue with the rest of our zoo trip he told me no and that I was not taking care of my child because she was not with me. My daughter was 10 ft in front me at all times because we were scared of the security guard that continued to follow us the whole trip. I have never been treated so badly for my daughter making an honest mistake. He was extremely unprofessional and if I could give the zero Stars I would. And I agree with all of the other posts as these poor animals look beaten and not very well maintained whatsoever. If you go here keep your family close. Make sure your children do not throw duck food to any other animal as they will throw you out. The literally followed us the whole way out. As we were trying to leave the security guard once again approached me and my mother-in-law and asked us not to file a complaint on him. That shows you who is...

So i don't even think this place should be called a zoo. I mean the kids enjoyed it but they're 6. As for us adults it was kinda sad.... When we went it was during feeding time the food was left out on the back of a gator (4 wheeler) in the hot hot sun. The meat looked all rotten and the fish was all smelly and gross. I was like are they going to feed that to the animals. Then where the fish and turtles exhibit is they use recycled waste treatment water. They even have a sign that says so and to not touch it drink the water. The price was ok but for what we saw and how fast we went through the"zoo" (which was like not even 40min.) I think the price should change. The kids had fun but they don't understand or look at everything like us adults do. The animals were all very tired and lazy. It was waaay too hot for some of them to come out anyways. I think they should look into this zoo because the environment for those animals was not good,...

Its quite large but most of that space is empty grass fields. Aside from that it is quite enjoyable for the $2.50 price tag.

It has a playground in there as well. Currently I am a teenager and I did ride down the slide and actually found it quite enjoyable.

The animals are pretty playful as well with the lemurs, llamas, monkeys, and bears being the best part.

As for the cats like the cougar and the bobcat, those were in their interior cages so we werent able to see them.

Id say the place is really nice, especially with the number of events they hold and that alone gives it an extra star.

I would also like to mention that it looks like they are going to add more animal encagements which is nice.

As for the animal treatment it seems pretty good for a zoo. Most of the predatorial animals are there for rehabilitation to be sent back into the wild. As for the animals of prey they seem quite comfortable and have rather spacious room. So...
