I never felt sadder seeing animals in the zoo than when I was in Alameda Park Zoo in Alamogordo, New Mexico. I visited the place after reading some comments online about the varieties of animal species in it. Others wrote that it is their βfavorite zoo in the world!β I should have not believed what I read online. When I saw the sad-looking state of the animals, I wished right then and there that the animals be transferred somewhere where they will be taken cared of. Small cages. So small a place that it will take less than 30 minutes to complete the cage trail. Not counting the ducks, the fishes, and the birds flying, there are only 20 (or even less) animals in total! In some cages, you will not see anything. Not a single species of animal moving. The animals might have been tired of people looking at them that they hide in rocks or bushes. Thank goodness, it only takes $2.50 to enter.

Its a really cute little zoo! They arealing improvements, its a slow process, especially being in Alamogordo. But all the animals look really hapoy and healthy. The only reason i knocked off a star, was because the Taipar enclosure was FULL of rats. They really need to do something about all of them. Hard to manage in a zoo im sure but it was alot... The little park for kids is really fun, swings, a slide and things to climb on! And nice green grass to sit if you want. Very clean. The pigeons are a little obnoxious, but what pigeon isnt!? π Definitely go in and just stroll around, its worth it, and a really cheap way to entertain the kids for a few hours.

This is a very small zoo, but we love to stop and stretch our legs here on every road trip that takes us through Alamogordo! You can't beat their price at any other zoo, and they have both quite a few native species, as well as some you can't find at just any zoo, like African porcupines and their Mexican wolves. All the animals are in habitats that make then easy and fun to observe up close! My toddler especially enjoys the aviary, and they also have a full size playground that he loves! The park is very neat and tidy, the people are friendly and helpful, the gift shop very well priced. Restrooms are clean and convenient, and the park feels very safe.

This is my favorite zoo in nearly the world. It's large enough and has enough varied animals to entertain but not bore. The admissions fee is percent $1.50 for 11 and under and $2.50 for 12 and older. There is a senior discount too. Can't beat the price. I go about 3 times per year but this time I went with a family with 6 kids from 7 to 17 years old and everyone had a good time. The 17 year old enjoyed it and the 8 year old said "I thought the zoo was gonna be boring but it's so much fun!" The best parts are always the aviary and the otters.

This little zoo was lots of fun for us! Most of the animals were out enjoying the beautiful sunshine! Being from Washington state, I enjoyed seeing a lot of animals that are local to me. The gift shop had a lot of fun little gifts for children that were fairly priced. My only criticism would be that all the railings were extremely dirty due to so many birds. I do understand that it's quite a lot of cleaning but it would be nice to enjoy the animals without having to avoid the rails. It's hard to keep kiddos from touching them.
